On the afternoon of August 22, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that it had just sent a document to the Project Management Board of Construction Investment in Area 1 regarding the construction and renovation of sidewalks in the wards of Saigon, Ben Thanh, Tan Dinh and Cau Ong Lanh, affecting the traffic signal system, traffic safety and urban aesthetics.
According to the reflection of the Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center, during the construction process, many shortcomings occurred such as lack of coordination in raising and lowering the technical tunnels, causing unsafety for pedestrians; digging the sidewalk causing broken traffic light signal cables; some signs were lost, many signal pillars were damaged and collapsed; unsanitary conditions on some central routes...

To overcome this situation, the Department of Construction requested the Project Management Board of Area 1 to urgently inspect and coordinate with the Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center to handle shortcomings, ensure traffic safety and urban aesthetics; report the results before August 25. At the same time, when implementing, it is necessary to coordinate with technical infrastructure units and People's Committees of related wards to ensure a synchronous signaling and infrastructure system after the project is completed; inspect and handle violations of construction units, and report the results before August 30.
The Department of Construction emphasized the need for quick repairs to ensure traffic safety, preserve urban beauty and limit impacts on tourism activities in the city center.
