Scene of the Opening Ceremony of the Artificial Kidney Unit at Than Uyen District Medical Center.
At the Opening Ceremony, the leaders of Than Uyen District Medical Center reported an overview of the implementation of artificial kidney technology at the unit. Accordingly, through the survey, there are about 63 patients in need of periodic dialysis in the area. Currently, the whole district has 9 patients undergoing periodic dialysis at the Provincial General Hospital and Nghia Lo General Hospital ( Yen Bai ), 15 patients with stage V chronic kidney failure, 31 patients with stage IV kidney failure, 40 patients with stage III kidney failure, 32 patients with stage II kidney failure. Most of the patients on dialysis at the hospitals are far from the treatment facility, making it difficult to travel, while in difficult circumstances, many patients have to both do dialysis and find work to cover their daily expenses. Therefore, it is necessary to deploy the artificial kidney system at the District Medical Center to help patients reduce travel costs and save time.

To ensure the implementation of hemodialysis in the district, Than Uyen District Medical Center has prepared well the conditions of human resources, facilities, medical equipment, drugs, chemicals, supplies, etc. The Medical Center received funding from the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, provincial branch, 1 RO2 water filtration system, 3 blood filtration machines worth 2.5 billion VND; received financial support for facility renovation worth 2.5 billion VND sponsored by Vietnam National Shipping Lines. Currently, the unit is ready to ensure hemodialysis service until the end of 2026 for a capacity of about 10 patients.
Dr. Nguyen Huu Dung - Deputy Director of the Center for Nephrology - Urology and Dialysis, Bach Mai Hospital, Chairman of the Vietnam Dialysis Association presented flowers to congratulate the Board of Directors of Than Uyen District Medical Center.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Comrade Tran Quang Chien - Vice Chairman of Than Uyen District People's Committee emphasized that the opening of the Artificial Kidney Unit marks a professional step of the District Medical Center, an activity of profound humanitarian significance in the work of taking care of people's health. He expressed his deep gratitude to the Vietnam Dialysis Association, Bach Mai Hospital, and sponsors for their attention and support in creating conditions for the District Medical Center to open the Artificial Kidney Unit at the unit. In order for the Artificial Kidney Unit to operate effectively and safely, meeting the expectations of the people, the Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee requested that the staff, doctors, and nurses of Than Uyen District Medical Center continue to learn, update their knowledge, master techniques, strictly follow professional procedures to ensure absolute safety for patients; do a good job of managing, operating, and preserving the system of machinery, equipment, etc.
Leaders of the Vietnam Dialysis Association, Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Provincial Branch, District People's Committee, Than Uyen District Medical Center presented gifts to the first dialysis patients after the opening ceremony.
On this occasion, the leaders and delegates visited the Hospital; visited, presented gifts and encouraged the first patients undergoing periodic dialysis at the artificial kidney unit worth over 6 million VND.
