According to Al Jazeera, on July 16, the Israeli army carried out two attacks on the center of the Syrian capital Damascus. It is known that the Syrian Defense Ministry headquarters building and a target near the Presidential Palace in the capital Damascus were bombed by Israeli aircraft.

One person was killed and 28 others were injured in Israeli airstrikes on Damascus, Syrian state news agency SANA reported, citing the Health Ministry .

Israel warned the Syrian government that it would continue its attacks if the Syrian government army did not withdraw from Sweida, in the south of the country.

The airstrike came just hours after Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz demanded that Damascus forces withdraw from Sweida, the scene of fierce clashes between the Syrian Army and Druze gunmen (supported by Israel) in recent days.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has strongly condemned Israel's attacks on Damascus, calling them a "blatant violation of Syria's sovereignty".

“Continuing these attacks will further increase tensions and affect the security and stability of the region,” the Lebanese President's office wrote in a statement on the X network.

President Aoun also called on the international community to "put pressure" on Israel to end its repeated attacks and respect Syria's sovereignty.
