With his contributions to the promotion and advertising of Vietnam tourism during the 2018 - 2021 term, Australian golf legend Greg Norman was re-appointed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for the 2025 - 2035 term.

On the morning of July 18 in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong presented the Decision appointing Mr. Gregory John Norman (abbreviated as Greg Norman), world golf legend, to take on the position of Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for the 2025-2030 term.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai, Deputy Director of the National Tourism Administration (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), Australian professional golfer Greg Norman is considered a golf legend and has been accompanying Vietnam tourism since 2018 as a Tourism Ambassador.

During his first term (2018 - 2021), he made a strong impression by contributing to making Vietnam "Asia's Best Golf Destination" 8 consecutive times and "World's Best Golf Destination" 2 times (2019, 2021) voted by World Golf Awards (a prestigious international award in the golf field, part of the World Travel Award system); participating in activities to promote and advertise Vietnam tourism, being a person who connects and inspires the domestic community, motivating Vietnamese people to become "tourism ambassadors" in their own community.

With his global influence and extensive network, Mr. Greg Norman has supported consulting and connecting international events to Vietnam. A typical example is bringing the International Series Vietnam tournament of the Asian Tour system to the KN Cam Ranh Links golf course, where he was the main architect, contributing to making Vietnam one of the attractive golf destinations in Asia.

According to Decision No. 1746/QD-BVHTTDL of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Greg Norman, born in 1955, Australian nationality, will perform the duties of Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for a period of 5 years, from 2025 - 2030. In addition to promoting golf tourism, Mr. Greg Norman will actively participate in activities to promote Vietnam's heritage, cuisine , culture and other unique tourism products to the international community.

Mr. Greg Norman pledges to continue to spread the image of Vietnamese tourism more strongly globally.

Sharing after receiving the decision to appoint Vietnam Tourism Ambassador, Mr. Greg Norman expressed: "I am proud to have been Vietnam Tourism Ambassador and now continue to be associated with Vietnam in the position of Tourism Ambassador for the 2025 - 2030 term. I pledge to do my best to continue to promote the image of Vietnam, a destination not only for golfers but also a country of heritage, nature, culture and friendly people, spreading more strongly the image of Vietnam tourism globally".

At the same time, the leaders of the ministry also expressed their respect for the talent and influence of the Tourism Ambassador, especially his love for Vietnam. Deputy Minister Ho An Phong emphasized: "Vietnam's golf has developed but it is only the beginning, there is still a lot of room for golf development in Vietnam. I believe that in the 2025 - 2030 term, Tourism Ambassador Greg Norman will make more positive and effective contributions. Hopefully this cooperation will not only create inspiration but also spread the values, culture, nature, and people of Vietnam to friends and tourists around the world".

The continued appointment of Greg Norman is part of the national tourism promotion strategy, especially when Vietnam aims to not only attract large numbers of visitors but also improve the quality of spending, extend the length of stay, attract high-end customers; at the same time, continue to build "golf diplomacy" - a form of soft connection between Vietnam and the international business, sports and tourism community.

Believing that Vietnam's tourism will have strong and significant development, golf legend Greg Norman said that in this term, he proposed three main pillars: besides continuing to promote tourism and training, he proposed policies to create opportunities for golf to develop.

Specifically, in addition to continuing to promote Vietnam golf tourism on personal media platforms, aiming to raise international awareness of Vietnam's golf destination; connecting to organize international golf tournaments in Vietnam, including a plan to coordinate with LIV Golf, to bring a top tournament to Vietnam within the framework of the ambassador's term.

Launching the Greg Norman Golf Academy chain to train the young generation of golfers, popularizing golf in physical education, creating conditions for Vietnamese people to access this sport early. Consulting on developing policies for sustainable golf course management and development, combining environmental protection and green tourism development, and proposing a program for inspecting and ranking international standard golf courses.
