Soc Son district temporarily suspends auction of 36 land lots related to the case of paying 30 billion VND/m2

(Dan Tri) - Soc Son District temporarily suspended the auction of 36 land lots in Quang Tien Commune to re-determine the starting price according to Decision No. 71 of the Hanoi People's Committee.

Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, the leader of Soc Son District People's Committee (Hanoi City) said that the district has postponed the auction of 36 plots in Dong Lai village (Quang Tien commune) scheduled to be held on the morning of December 28.

The reason for postponing the auction is to re-determine the starting price according to Decision No. 71 of the Hanoi People's Committee on regulations and amendments to the price list of land types, effective from December 20.

The leader of the People's Committee of Soc Son district said that they are submitting the starting price for the auction to competent authorities for approval, then will continue to auction 36 land plots in Dong Lai village, Quang Tien commune according to regulations.

As Dan Tri newspaper reported earlier, the auction of 36 plots of land in Dong Lai village, Quang Tien commune, Soc Son district is scheduled to be held on December 28. The plots of land have an area of 90-220 m2/plot with a starting price of 2.4 million VND/m2.

The auction is conducted by direct voting for each plot of land, using the ascending price method. The price step of the next rounds is applied to all 36 plots of land at 3 million VND/m2.

Bidders must pay a deposit of 20% of the starting price, equivalent to over VND44 million to over VND109 million, depending on the plot of land. The auction will take place on December 28.

According to Dan Tri reporter's investigation, the 36 lots of land put up for auction were the lots that were unsuccessfully auctioned in the session with a price of 30 billion VND/m2 at the end of November.

Previously, on November 29, Soc Son district organized an auction of 58 land lots in Dong Lai village, Quang Tien commune. The auction caused a stir in public opinion when 3 land lots were bid up to over 30 billion VND/m2. The leader of Soc Son district People's Committee said that there was a group of customers who "sabotaged" the auction.

According to the report of the Soc Son District Land Fund Development Center, at the end of the auction, only 22/58 plots of land were successfully auctioned with the lowest winning price of 32.4 million VND/m2; the highest price of 50.4 million VND/m2. 36 plots of land were not auctioned because all customers did not bid in round 6 (the final round).

On December 3, the Hanoi City Police Department of Investigation urgently arrested and temporarily detained 5 subjects for investigation related to the case of paying 30 billion VND/m2 in a land auction in Soc Son district.

The detained subjects include Pham Ngoc Tuan, Ngo Van Duong, Nguyen Duc Thanh, Nguyen The Trung, and Nguyen The Quan. According to Hanoi City Police, the five subjects mentioned above are being investigated for violating regulations on property auction activities.
