Huong Hoa announced the end of foot and mouth disease epidemic in buffalo and cow herds in Huc and Tan Long communes.

Today, October 15, the People's Committee of Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province issued a decision to announce the end of foot-and-mouth disease in buffalo and cattle herds in Huc and Tan Long communes from October 14, 2024.

Accordingly, the activities of slaughtering, buying, selling, and transporting cattle and buffaloes in the district have returned to normal as before the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in cattle and buffaloes.

The District People's Committee assigned the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station, the People's Committees of communes and towns to continue monitoring the disease situation in buffalo and cow herds within the management scope, guide the implementation of measures to restore livestock production according to regulations, and perform well the work of disease management, monitoring and detection and disinfection.

Assign the People's Committees of communes and towns to proactively coordinate with relevant units to direct the synchronous implementation of disease prevention measures in livestock herds according to the provisions of the Veterinary Law and current regulations.

It is known that foot-and-mouth disease in buffalo and cows in Huong Hoa district occurred in 5 communes and towns including: Huc, Tan Long, Thuan, Huong Phung and Lao Bao town, causing 116 buffalo and cows to get sick, of which 5 died.

After a period of drastic implementation of disease control measures, up to now, in 5 communes and towns, foot-and-mouth disease in buffaloes and cows has been controlled and stabilized.
