On June 10, in Moc Chau town, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La province coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province to organize a conference of the Standing Team and the Working Group of the Steering Committee for Tourism Development of 8 Expanded Northwestern Provinces and Ho Chi Minh City in 2025.

As the Head of the 2025 Cooperation Group, Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee has proactively coordinated with the People's Committees of provinces and cities to develop, promulgate and implement the Cooperation Group's plan on organizing tourism development cooperation activities in 8 expanded Northwestern provinces and Ho Chi Minh City in 2025.

The total number of visitors to the 8 Northwestern provinces and Ho Chi Minh City in the first 6 months of the year reached more than 40.9 million, up 4% over the same period in 2024 and reaching 45.92% of the annual plan. Of which, the number of tourists to the 8 Northwestern provinces reached nearly 22.7 million, accounting for 55.5% of the total number of visitors. Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 135,512 billion, reaching 40.34% of the 2025 plan, up 9% over the same period in 2024.

At the conference, delegates discussed and contributed ideas to the draft plan for tourism cooperation and development between the expanded Northwest provinces and Ho Chi Minh City in 2026; orientation for tourism cooperation and development in the period of 2026-2030. The ideas focused on a number of contents on: Cooperation and linkage plan between provinces after the arrangement of provincial administrative units; tourism cooperation and development with foreign countries; building new tourism products with linkages between provinces; coordination in promoting and promoting tourism, consuming OCOP products and local agricultural products; effective solutions for survey trips and tourism development linkages; tourism infrastructure development planning; organization of the Northwest - Dien Bien Quintessence Festival in 2025...
