Located 13 nautical miles from Nha Trang City ( Khanh Hoa ), Yen Island is home to thousands of swiftlets, considered the origin of the bird's nest industry in Khanh Hoa, and is the place with the largest bird's nest reserves in Vietnam.

In addition to possessing poetic natural beauty, this place also has beaches with clear blue water, and colorful coral reefs hidden under the clear sea.

Visitors can also directly see the people working here in the caves where the birds live.

To get to the island, visitors take a wooden boat or canoe from the local fishing port in Nha Trang. Boat tickets cost from 490,000 - 790,000 VND per person.

The ideal time of year for tourists to visit Yen Island is from April to the end of August. This is the time when Yen Island opens to welcome tourists, the weather is dry, cool, suitable for sightseeing as well as swimming.

Visiting Yen Island, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai (tourist from Quang Ngai ) was excited to visit the place where the bird's nest industry originated for the first time.

"I am very impressed with the scenery here, especially the clear blue beach, where you can see coral reefs and many species of creatures, the steep cliffs with unique shapes, and exploring the bird's nest caves also gives us new experiences" - Ms. Mai confided.

With the habit of flying out to find food and returning at night, visitors can hardly see swiftlets, however, every day on the island there are flocks of seagulls gathering for visitors to admire.
