"The capacity and quality of providing medical services at grassroots health facilities have been increasingly improved, basically performing assigned functions and tasks, and people's satisfaction with medical services has improved," said Deputy Minister Le Duc Luan.

The grassroots medical staff is considered the “extended arm” of the health sector, contributing to the overall success of the entire health sector. Grassroots health is not only the place closest to the people, the most accessible, but also the first “shield” in disease prevention, control, and community health care.

To honor grassroots health workers, the Ministry of Health organizes the 2024 Excellent Grassroots Health Contest with the theme Grassroots Health: Connecting with the People - Dedicated Service. The contest takes place from July 2024 to November 2024, through 3 rounds: Preliminary round; Regional round takes place in 3 regions North - Central - South with 17 provinces participating.

The competition helps grassroots medical staff to exchange, learn, share experiences, contribute to promoting the movement of learning, training, fostering, technical expertise, and health care for people in general and patients in particular among the staff and employees working directly at the grassroots level.

According to Ms. Phan Le Thu Hang, Deputy Head of the Department of Planning and Finance, Ministry of Health, Deputy Head of the Jury, the teams that reached the finals did not stop at their initial success, but continued to invest effort and dedication to perfect their performances to make them better and more convincing, both from an artistic and professional perspective.

“The health sector, if it wants to “stick with the people and serve wholeheartedly”, must promote the culture of the sector. With their talent and dedication, grassroots health workers have proven that health care in general and health communication in particular must be based on a cultural foundation, closely linked to regional cultural characteristics and the culture of the ethnic groups living in the area,” said Ms. Hang.

At the end of the 2024 primary health care finals, the first prize went to the Binh Phuoc province team, the second prize went to the Phu Yen province team, a third prize went to the Dong Nai province team, and three consolation prizes went to teams from Binh Dinh, Hai Duong, and Hai Phong provinces.
