In the most recent incident on November 21, a Lebanese reporter for Al-Mayadeen TV channel and his cameraman were killed in southern Lebanon near the border with Israel shortly after ending a live broadcast.

Five weeks earlier, a Lebanese Reuters journalist, Issam Abdallah, was also killed while reporting in Lebanon and several other journalists at the site were also seriously injured.

Israel later told Reuters and AFP, which had journalists injured in the same attack, that it could not guarantee the safety of its journalists in Gaza.

The Israeli military said in a letter that it was targeting Hamas, which had deliberately carried out its activities “in close proximity to journalists and civilians.”

Many Palestinian journalists have been killed in airstrikes, along with many of their family members. In addition to the journalists who have been killed, many have continued to work despite the impact of the conflict on their families.

The wife and children of Al Jazeera's Gaza bureau chief, Wael Dahdouh, were killed by an Israeli airstrike on October 25, after they fled from northern Gaza to the south on Israel's advice.

What is more remarkable is that this journalist continued to do his job despite the great risk to his life. An Al Jazeera presenter was almost in tears while reporting on this incident.

Al Jazeera said it was “deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of our colleagues in Gaza and holds the Israeli authorities accountable for their security”.
