More than 30 localities announced the third exam subject for 10th grade admission.

Up to this point, the third subject in the first 10th grade entrance exam under the 2018 GeneralEducation Program has been announced by more than 30 localities.

According to the Education and Times newspaper, the third subject chosen for admission to grade 10 in localities is mainly Foreign Language (or English). Ha Giang, in particular, chooses History and Geography as the third subject. As for Vinh Long, this locality conducts admission to public high schools, except for Nguyen Binh Khiem Specialized High School.

Circular 30/2024/TT-BGDDT stipulates 3 subjects and entrance exams for grade 10

Previously, on December 30, 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training issued the Regulations on Secondary School and High School Admissions with Circular 30/2024/TT-BGDDT. Circular 30/2024/TT-BGDDT takes effect from February 14, 2025.

This Circular stipulates 3 subjects and exams with the admission method by entrance exam to grade 10, including: Math, Literature and the third subject or exam selected by the Department of Education and Training according to 1 of the 2 following options:

The third exam subject is selected from among the subjects assessed by scores in the secondary school general education program, ensuring that the same third exam subject is not selected for more than 3 consecutive years.

The third exam is a combination exam of a number of subjects selected from among the subjects assessed by scores in the secondary school general education program.

For high schools under the Ministry of Education and Training, universities, colleges, and research institutes that organize their own entrance exams, the third subject or exam is selected by the Ministry of Education and Training, universities, colleges, and research institutes directly managing them.

The third exam or paper is announced after the end of the first semester but no later than March 31 every year.

Exam time: Literature: 120 minutes; Math: 90 minutes or 120 minutes; third exam: 60 minutes or 90 minutes; third exam: 90 minutes or 120 minutes.

The exam content is within the secondary school education program, mainly grade 9.

For admission to specialized high schools, students must take the subjects and exams specified in this clause and one specialized subject. Each specialized subject has its own exam according to the secondary school curriculum, the exam content ensures the selection of students with talent in that specialized subject.
