“I have a feeling that we will find formulas that will not disappoint Ukraine,” Neuseda said at a press conference. “The results will be much more than what we usually say.”

According to the head of Lithuania, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may not get “what is in the ambitious plan”, but Kiev will certainly “reap” a lot.

Lithuania and a number of other NATO member states reportedly want a “more ambitious” text for the final statement of the upcoming summit on Ukraine, and are therefore in talks to convince countries with a “more cautious” stance, including the US and Germany.

In addition, Mr. Neuseda also affirmed that next week's NATO Summit will decide on the establishment of the NATO-Ukraine Council, as well as commitments to ensure security for Kiev from individual member states in the bloc, including economic and military support.

Previously, in an interview on July 4, the Lithuanian leader hoped that at next week's Summit in the country's capital, NATO would be "bolder" in promoting Ukraine's accession process.

President Neuseda commented: “We all understand that right now Ukraine cannot join NATO while the conflict with Russia is still going on… But we need to start with the procedures, the way to proceed… so as not to waste time if the conflict ends and victory belongs to Ukraine.”

In addition, Mr. Neuseda also expressed hope that President Zelensky would attend this conference because the head of Ukraine holds an "important role in decision-making in Vilnius" and "promises" an easier path to NATO membership when the conflict is over.

Previously, Kiev announced that President Zelensky would cancel his plan to visit Vilnius if the Eastern European country's expectations were not met.
