Vietnamese students won 4 medals at the 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics

The Vietnamese national team competing in the 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in the capital city of Sucre, Bolivia has 4 students; all 4 students excellently won medals with 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal.

On the afternoon of August 2, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the official results of the Vietnam National Team participating in the 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in the capital city of Sucre, Bolivia.

The Vietnamese national team had 4 students competing and all 4 students excellently won medals. The specific achievements of the students are as follows:

Le Kien Thanh , grade 12 student, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Gia Lai province won a Gold Medal;

Dang Huy Hau , 10th grade student, Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Lam Dong province won Silver Medal;

Nguyen Bui Duc Dung , 11th grade student, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi won a Silver Medal;

Ninh Quang Thang , grade 12 student, Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh province won a Bronze Medal.

With 100% of contestants winning medals, Vietnam's IOI 2025 Team is among the top 8 countries and territories with the highest results according to the medal tally, following: China, Korea, Romania, Singapore, Bulgaria, Hungary and Japan.

The Ministry of Education and Training said that the excellent achievements of the Vietnam National Team at IOI 2025 continue to affirm the position of Vietnamese education in the top intellectual arena, while affirming the right direction in the work of discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The 37th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2025) was held in person from July 27 to August 3 in the capital city of Sucre, Bolivia, with the official participation of 330 contestants from 86 countries and territories; Russia and Belarus participated under the Olympic flag.

IOI 2025 has two official competition days. On each day, candidates will take a 5-hour computer programming test, solving 3 problems with rich content. The results will be automatically graded online by the system and the scoreboard will be announced live throughout the two competition days (online).

The IOI 2025 exam is assessed to be highly difficult, diverse in genres with 6 tests of 6 completely different types, requiring candidates to have comprehensive background knowledge, creativity and flexible thinking.

The IOI 2025 Closing and Awards Ceremony will be held by the Organizing Committee on Saturday, August 2 (starting at 4:30 p.m., Bolivian time).
