On the evening of July 22, U23 Thailand was held to a 0-0 draw by U23 Myanmar in the final round of Group C of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship. This result still helped the "Golden Temple" team advance to the semi-finals with 4 points.
Meanwhile, U23 Myanmar accepted being eliminated after the group stage with only 2 points.
However, the lackluster 0-0 draw against a much weaker opponent disappointed Thai fans.
The "War Elephants" entered the match with the mindset that a draw would be enough to win the group, so they did not play at their best.
In the first half, both teams created some dangerous opportunities. It was U23 Myanmar who had the first dangerous opportunity when they shot the ball against the post of U23 Thailand's goal in the 18th minute.
Although the "Land of the Golden Pagodas" team controlled the game and created pressure, their strikers could not convert it into goals. The first half ended without any goals being scored.
In the second half, the game continued to be balanced as both teams tried to find a goal but failed. The match ended in a dull 0-0 draw.
In the same match of Group B, U23 Vietnam won 2-1 against U23 Cambodia to continue as the group leader.
With this result, U23 Thailand will face U23 Indonesia in the semi-finals while U23 Vietnam will face U23 Philippines.
