Winning 2-1 against U23 Philippines in the semi-final match on the afternoon of July 25, the U23 Vietnam team has made it to the final match of the Southeast Asian U23 Championship for the third consecutive time, after winning the championship twice in 2022 and 2023.
Two goals by Dinh Bac and Xuan Bac brought coach Kim Sang-sik and his team closer to the goal of defending this year's championship.
In the post-match press conference, head coach Kim Sang-sik expressed his satisfaction with his players' performance. He shared: "I am very happy that the team won and reached the final. The players tried their best, followed the tactics well and performed exactly as they had prepared. Although we missed many opportunities, I am still very happy with this result."
Referring to the possibility of meeting host U23 Indonesia in the final, coach Kim Sang-sik said: "We have not faced U23 Indonesia under the new coach. I need to watch their semi-final match to analyze the difference from the time of coach Shin Tae-yong. However, the important thing is that we must be ready for any opponent."

The Korean strategist emphasized that the psychological factor will play a key role in the final match: "No matter who we face, the important thing is that the team must maintain the confidence we had today. If we prepare carefully, we can beat any team and win the championship."
When asked about midfielder Viktor Le’s performance, coach Kim Sang Sik said: “He is an important factor in the squad. However, Viktor needs to improve his ball retention, confidence and efficiency in finishing situations.”
Xuan Bac, who scored the winning goal and was voted the best player of the match, shared: "This was not an easy match. However, the coaching staff came up with a reasonable strategy to help the team win. We need to further improve our finishing ability to end the match quickly when there are favorable opportunities."
Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team's opponent in the final match taking place on July 29 will be the winner of the second semi-final match between U23 Indonesia and U23 Thailand.
