Indonesian Football Federation President Determined to Keep the Cup
Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) President Erick Thohir said the Indonesian U.23 team needs to dare to play "tough" when facing Vietnam in the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U.23 Championship at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium next Tuesday night.
Antara newspaper said Mr. Erick made the statement when meeting reporters at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, after Indonesia defeated Thailand in a penalty shootout in the second semi-final.
"We are the hosts here. Don't let them trample on our home turf. So if they play hard there, we have to play hard here. It doesn't mean we have to hurt each other. We can't hurt each other. But I mean we have to dare to play hard," Mr. Erick said.
President of the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) Erick Thohir made very strong statements.
This is the third time the Indonesian U.23 team has reached the final of the tournament, after the 2019 and 2023 editions.

After a long and tense semi-final match with U.23 Thailand, U.23 Indonesia is at a physical disadvantage compared to U.23 Vietnam.
"However, I believe this time will be different, because at AFF," the PSSI president emphasized.
The final match between U.23 Indonesia and U.23 Vietnam will take place at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (July 29) at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium and will be broadcast live on FPT Play platforms.
