At the ongoing 2025 Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), the electric car dubbed the "national car" i2C was launched in the form of a 1:1 scale clay model. The name of this car is an abbreviation of the phrase "Indonesian Indigenous Car".

The i2C's exterior is inspired by the Garuda bird - a sacred symbol in Indonesian culture and ancient Champa sculpture. The design details have the appearance of a lion's head, bird's beak, human body and animal legs, combined with traditional batik motifs, creating a unique appearance that is rare in the current electric SUV segment.

This new i2C electric SUV has a strong body with angular lines. The interior design has not been announced yet, but according to the revelation, the car will have 3 rows of seats with a total of 7 seats.

Not only impressive in design, i2C is also equipped with remarkable technical specifications. The SUV uses an 83.4 kWh NMC lithium battery, providing an operating range of up to 617 km according to CLTC standards.

The vehicle is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor, providing a maximum capacity of 204 horsepower and maximum torque of 310 Nm, equivalent to the BYD Atto 3 model.

With this power, i2C is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in about 9.1 seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 200 km/h. The DC fast charging system supports a maximum capacity of 150 kW, while AC charging reaches 11 kW, significantly reducing charging time for users.

According to the announcement from PT TMI, the i2C electric car model will complete the testing phase in the near future before officially launching the complete version at the 2026 auto show.

The company plans to start mass production in late 2027 or early 2028 with an expected selling price of less than 500 million rupiah (about 790 million VND), aiming at the mass customer segment.

Notably, many components such as rearview mirrors and lighting systems have been localized, serving the goal of controlling costs and developing domestic supply chains. PT TMI Chairman and CEO - Mr. Harsusantu - shared that all designs are carefully considered to ensure suitability with domestic production capacity and reasonable prices.

The company also said it will build about 40 to 50 prototypes for crash testing, production evaluation and technology validation. The entire process is supported by advanced digital simulations, similar to those used in the aerospace industry.
