The gaming industry is opening up creative space for passionate young people.

The Ministry of Information and Communications said the gaming industry has an annual growth rate of more than 15%, with domestic revenue reaching more than 655 million USD in 2024. The report "Strategy for management and development of the online gaming industry in Vietnam in the period of 2025 - 2030" by TikTok and Sensor Tower also predicted that the revenue of the Vietnamese gaming industry will reach 1.66 billion USD in 2025 and reach 2.42 billion USD in 2029.

Policies from management agencies are also creating important leverage for the Vietnamese gaming ecosystem. The Prime Minister's Directive on the development of Vietnam's cultural industries clearly states that electronic game products on cyberspace that have a strong Vietnamese identity and are in line with the world 's development trends will be supported for development.

Mr. Hoang Bao Long, founder of LacBird, senior lecturer at British University Vietnam, also commented that integrating indigenous cultural elements has become one of the biggest trends in the gaming industry today, especially when the younger generation increasingly considers culture as something interesting and worth exploring .

The success of games that exploit local culture such as “Black Myth: Wukong” (China), “Tsushima Ghost” (Japan), or recently “The Tale of Street Cat” set in Hanoi developed by Vietnamese Gen Z, shows that this direction is completely correct to promote the domestic gaming industry to break through.

What to learn to enter the market without confusion?

Thus, Game students now not only need to be good at their profession, but also need to be equipped with skills to be ready to create their own mark suitable for the market right from the first steps.

That is also the training orientation of the Game Graphics program at British University Vietnam (BUV).

The Game Graphics program at BUV is awarded by Staffordshire University (the UK's leading game education provider according to TIGA certification in 2024), providing an international learning environment right in Vietnam. Students are trained in depth in building high-quality game art products, from character design, props to 3D backgrounds and environments. BUV is currently the only university in Vietnam offering a UK-standard game development education program.

BUV Game Graphics students have access to an international standard learning environment

The highlight of the program is the “real-world” learning method. Students participate in group projects, study with industry experts and have access to modern equipment systems. BUV also cooperates with many leading game studios such as Gameloft, VNG, etc. to provide learning opportunities, practical experiences, helping students improve their expertise, creative thinking and soft skills.

In addition, the program's faculty are all experts with extensive experience in the gaming industry, ready to accompany, advise and provide maximum support so that each student can promote their personal strengths and build a suitable career path.

With the strong development of the gaming industry, Game Graphics is opening up potential startup opportunities for Gen Z. International and formal training programs like those at BUV not only equip professional skills but also develop creative thinking, creating a solid foundation for students to build their own studio or participate in creative projects with their own personal stamp.

British University Vietnam (BUV) is the first university in Vietnam to receive a 5-star rating from Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), and the first university in Vietnam and ASEAN to receive global quality accreditation from QAA, the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. These are two of the most prestigious accreditation bodies in the world. BUV’s curriculum is well-designed, always updated with the latest industry trends, focusing on the seamless integration of theory and practice, ensuring that 100% of students have jobs or continue their studies within three months of graduation.
