New startup trends for Gen Z

The Ministry of Information and Communications said the gaming industry has an annual growth rate of more than 15%, with domestic revenue reaching more than 655 million USD in 2024. The report "Strategy for management and development of the online gaming industry in Vietnam in the period of 2025 - 2030" by TikTok and Sensor Tower also predicted that the revenue of the Vietnamese gaming industry will reach 1.66 billion USD in 2025 and reach 2.42 billion USD in 2029.
Policies from management agencies are also creating important leverage for the Vietnamese gaming ecosystem. The Prime Minister's Directive on the development of Vietnam's cultural industries clearly states that electronic game products on cyberspace that have a strong Vietnamese identity and are in line with the world 's development trends will be supported for development.

Mr. Hoang Bao Long, founder of LacBird, senior lecturer at British University Vietnam, also commented that integrating indigenous cultural elements has become one of the biggest trends in the gaming industry today, especially when the younger generation increasingly considers culture as something interesting and worth exploring .
The success of games that exploit local culture such as “Black Myth: Wukong” (China), “Tsushima Ghost” (Japan), or recently “The Tale of Street Cat” set in Hanoi developed by Vietnamese Gen Z, shows that this direction is completely correct to promote the domestic gaming industry to break through.
