At 8:00 p.m. on August 21, more than 16,000 officers, soldiers of the armed forces, and the masses - including 43 marching groups, 18 standing groups, and 15 equipment groups - participated in the combined rehearsal for the parade and marching in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (A80) at Ba Dinh Square (Hanoi). Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense - attended the combined rehearsal.

Focus, prepare early

On the night of August 18 and 19, the Army, Police, vehicles, and equipment moved from their outposts to Hanoi's inner city to gather and prepare for the combined training session. The scale of the combined training session was equivalent to the scale of the official ceremony taking place on the morning of September 2.

After the first general training session, the forces will have a second general training session at 8:00 p.m. on August 24. This will be followed by a state-level preliminary rehearsal at 8:00 p.m. on August 27 and a state-level final rehearsal at 6:30 a.m. on August 30.

The Russian Armed Forces, comprising more than 30 members, arrived in Hanoi on August 20 to participate in the A80 parade. Previously, Cambodian and Laotian military delegations arrived in Vietnam on August 15 and 16, respectively.

Participating in this parade are 13 mass groups. Of which, the cultural - sports group gathers 108 members who are artists, actors, singers, beauty queens, athletes, football players... from all over the country. As a member of this group, People's Artist Lan Huong - famous for her role in the movie "Hanoi Baby" - and actress Bao Han expressed their honor and deep pride and revealed that the cultural - sports group will present a special performance to the audience.

In the Special Forces formation, Lieutenant Nguyen Trung Kien - Company Political Commissar, Squad Leader of Squad 3 - Platoon 1 of the Parade Team of the Special Forces - is one of the few officers and soldiers of the special forces who have had the honor of participating in three historic parades: the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South, the Unification of the Country and now the A80 mission. Taking on the task of training and administrative management of the entire Squad 3, for soldier Nguyen Trung Kien, it is not only a source of pride but also a great responsibility.

Parade route

According to the schedule, the honor guard and walking groups of the Vietnam People's Army, foreign troops, and militia, guerrillas and police will enter the ceremony stage at Ba Dinh Square in turn. After passing the ceremony stage, the parade groups will split into 7 directions, passing through the central streets of Hanoi.

Specifically, the ceremonial mass goes all the way down Hung Vuong Street, turns left and follows Nguyen Thai Hoc - Trang Thi - Trang Tien Street to August Revolution Square. Meanwhile, the walking mass of the Vietnam People's Army and foreign armies, militia and self-defense forces, and police go in 4 directions. Direction 1: Go all the way down Hung Vuong Street, turn right onto Le Hong Phong - Ngoc Ha Street to Bach Thao Park. Direction 2: Go all the way down Hung Vuong Street, turn left onto Nguyen Thai Hoc - Trang Thi - Trang Tien Street to August Revolution Square. Direction 3: Go all the way down Hung Vuong Street, turn right onto Nguyen Thai Hoc - Kim Ma - Lieu Giai - Van Cao Street to Quan Ngua Stadium. Direction 4: After going all the way down Hung Vuong Street, turn left onto Nguyen Thai Hoc - Le Duan Street to Thong Nhat Park.

The Mobile Police and Cavalry groups turn right and follow Le Hong Phong - Ngoc Ha Street to the assembly point at Bach Thao Park. The Red Flag Group turns right onto Le Hong Phong Street, follows Doi Can - Giang Van Minh - Kim Ma - Lieu Giai Street to Quan Ngua Stadium. The mass, cultural and sports groups go straight along Hang Chao Alley to the assembly point at Hang Day Stadium.

The tank and tracked vehicle route after passing the stage will return to the Ministry of National Defense Command Headquarters. The tire vehicle route is divided into 2 directions: Direction 1 follows the route of Cua Bac - Nghi Tam - Au Co - Vo Chi Cong - Duong Lang - Tran Duy Hung - Thang Long Boulevard - Le Quang Dao - F1 Racetrack. Direction 2 follows the route of Nguyen Thai Hoc - Giang Vo - Lang - Tran Duy Hung - Thang Long Boulevard - Le Quang Dao - F1 Racetrack.

People excitedly watched the training session

Although the general training session did not officially begin until 8 p.m., many people in the capital and tourists poured into the streets early in the morning to see the forces and vehicles gathering at the planned locations.

At around 10:45 a.m., people were extremely excited to watch a formation of 10 helicopters practice flying and parading through Ba Dinh Square. To carry out the A80 mission, the air force mobilized many types of helicopters - including Mi-8, Mi-17, Mi-171 and Mi-172 - contributing to creating a magnificent and impressive aerial performance. Following the formation of 10 helicopters were 2 CASA C-295s - the most modern and largest transport aircraft of the Vietnam Air Force at the present time - which will fly over the square.

Arriving at Ba Dinh Square early, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang (Hai Phong City) said that this was the first time he had seen a helicopter performance. "After the press published information about the A80 event, I recorded the time and location and arranged my work, taking my children to watch the parade in the capital" - Mr. Thang was excited.

On Hang Chao Street (O Cho Dua Ward), 50 households simultaneously decorated with colorful flags and flowers. The street, about 300 m long, is decorated with 600 flag strings, each string has 20 small flags. In addition, there are 50 large party and national flags, along with 3 large flags measuring 3 x 2 m in the center and at both ends of the street, creating a brilliant highlight.

Many restaurants, cafes, offices... in Hanoi also decorate their spaces with flags, flowers and lights, becoming unique check-in spots, attracting many people and tourists.

Regarding ensuring security and traffic safety for the grand ceremony, Hanoi City will ban roads and restrict vehicles according to specific time frames: from 5 p.m. on August 24 to 3 a.m. on August 25, from 5 p.m. on August 27 to 3 a.m. on August 28, from 6 p.m. on August 29 to 3 p.m. on August 30, and from 6 p.m. on September 1 to 3 p.m. on September 2. During this time, many streets in the inner city will completely ban all types of vehicles (except vehicles serving the celebration and vehicles with security badges). In addition, some other routes within Hanoi's Ring Road 1 will be temporarily banned or restricted, depending on the type of vehicle.

In addition to watching live, people can watch the parade through 22 large outdoor screens at 18 public locations on 3 main routes. Of which, the Van Cao - Quan Ngua Stadium - Kim Ma - Nguyen Thai Hoc route has 7 screens; the Nguyen Thai Hoc - Trang Thi - Trang Tien - August Revolution Square route has 6 screens; the rest are located at public locations and gateways to the capital such as Long Bien, Hoa Binh, Cau Giay, Nguyen Trai and the National Exhibition Center.

In addition, 136 LED screens available at agencies, schools, stadiums and 127 socialized screens across the area will also be mobilized, prioritizing broadcast time to serve propaganda and visual agitation work.

Distribute drinking water and food to people

On August 20, the Hanoi People's Committee issued an official dispatch on ensuring conditions for people and tourists to watch commemorative activities, parades, and marches.

Accordingly, the city will provide free drinking water, dry food, and bread; at the same time, arrange shelters from the rain and sun and organize free bus routes for people from the localities to Hanoi. On the streets where the parade passes, it is necessary to ensure security, order, and arrange priority positions for veterans, the elderly, women, and children.
