Reuters reported that the communications devices that exploded on the afternoon of September 18 in Lebanon were handheld walkie-talkies. Security sources and witnesses told the news agency that at least one of the explosions occurred near a funeral organized by Hezbollah for victims of the blasts a day earlier.

Three people were killed in the latest explosions in Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa region, the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported. Hundreds of people were injured, including many with stomach and arm injuries, Reuters reported, citing security sources.

These radios were received by Hezbollah five months ago, almost the same time the pagers were purchased.

The September 17 explosions killed at least 12 people and injured nearly 3,000, including members of Hezbollah. Iran’s ambassador to Beirut, Mojtaba Amani, was also injured.

Hezbollah and its allies accuse Israel of being behind the attack and have vowed revenge, but Tel Aviv has so far not commented.

On September 18, Hezbollah launched rockets at Israeli artillery positions in the first bombardment since the September 17 incident.
