Two member schools of Ho Chi Minh City National University shorten admission methods in 2025

TPO - Both the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Economics and Law under the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City have this year reduced their admission methods to three.

On June 15, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Economics and Law under the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City announced the 2025 enrollment method.

Accordingly, both schools this year have been streamlined to 3 methods. Specifically, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU-HCM in 2025 will enroll a total of 3,899 full-time students for 37 majors in two programs: standard and international standard.

This year, the school applies three main groups of admission methods, including:

Method 1 – Priority admission, direct admission: For excellent students, those who have won provincial/national awards, have international language certificates, outstanding achievements in arts and sports , students from high schools on the priority list of VNU-HCM and consider high school transcripts for international joint programs (2+2).

Method 2 – Admission based on the results of the HCM City National University Competency Assessment Test (VNA): Applicable to candidates taking the 2025 VNA Competency Assessment Test, with an expected entrance score of 620 points.

Method 3 – Admission based on 2025 high school graduation exam results: Widely applied, some majors have a coefficient of 2 for the main subject. With this method, the expected entrance score threshold is from 18 - 20 points.

In addition, the school continues to recruit 210 students for 4 international 2+2 bachelor's degree programs with universities in Australia, the US, and China.

Some notable new points: adding D14, D15 combination to many majors, not using foreign language exemption results, using bonus points with a maximum limit of 10% of the score scale.

Similarly, the University of Economics and Law, VNU-HCM in 2025 will also enroll students with 3 methods, with a total quota of 2,700 for training programs with degrees granted by the school and international joint programs.

In which, Method 1 - Direct admission and priority direct admission: Applicable to many groups of subjects such as candidates winning national excellent student awards, excellent students recommended by high schools, students from 149 priority schools of Ho Chi Minh City National University, candidates with international certificates (IB, A-level, SAT, ACT). Admission results are calculated based on the total score of the combination of subjects in 3 years of high school and bonus points from the international English certificate (CCTA).

Method 2 – Admission based on the results of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University Entrance Exam: Candidates will receive priority points and CCTA bonus points to increase their chances of admission.

Method 3 – Admission based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam: Based on the total score of 3 subjects in the admission combination, plus priority points and CCTA if any.

In addition, the University of Economics and Law also enrolls students in international joint programs with British partner universities, granting degrees in International Business and Business Administration - Marketing.

The admission combination is kept stable with 6 main combinations, including: A00, A01, D01, D07, X25, X26. Candidates can choose to use the English certificate score conversion or bonus points, whichever is most beneficial.
