Through modern, user-friendly technology, visitors can "touch" the depth of the city's history and unique culture.
New experience
Among the crowd visiting the 2025 National Achievements Exhibition, many people stopped for quite a while at the Hai Phong exhibition area. On the conical pillars depicting historical journeys, the multi-dimensional rotating axes recreating the image of Cat Ba Archipelago and the Con Son - Kiep Bac scenic spot, many visitors expressed surprise when they learned that Hai Phong currently owns two world heritages recognized by UNESCO.
The cultural and heritage area is like an “open window”, bringing the public back to a Hai Phong rich in identity. The city currently has nearly 4,000 historical and cultural relics, hundreds of large and small festivals, and dozens of national treasures.
In particular, Hai Phong is also famous as a land of mandarins with 637 doctors, including 13 top doctors such as the two-country top doctor Mac Dinh Chi, Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem or the first female doctor in the feudal history of Vietnam - Nguyen Thi Due. The stories and documents are presented vividly through modern technology, helping viewers clearly feel the depth of history and culture of the coastal city.
Mr. Tran Van Huu, a visitor from Quang Ninh, said emotionally: “I always knew Cat Ba was beautiful, but today, thanks to the interactive screen and 3D technology, I can see more clearly the special ecological and cultural values here. As for Con Son - Kiep Bac, I am truly proud, it is not only the heritage of the old Hai Duong but also of the entire Hai Phong city after the merger.”
Young people were also eager to record images of the Kiep Bac festival, the landscape of Cat Ba or documents about Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem that were vividly displayed. Mai Anh, a final year student at the Foreign Trade University, shared: "The technologies here help me feel the heritage more closely, not as dry as reading books or watching normal documents."

Not only world heritage, many people are also surprised to know that Hai Phong is currently in the top of the localities with the most relics in the country. "A coastal city with such rich heritage is really surprising. I think this will be a great advantage for Hai Phong to develop cultural tourism", Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, a tourist from Hanoi shared.
The exhibition space also connects the present with daily life through the OCOP area and Hai Phong craft villages and handicrafts in the outdoor exhibition area. Ceramic products, bamboo and rattan, wooden handicrafts, processed seafood, etc. are cleverly arranged, evoking the image of a city that is not only rich in tradition but also rich in creative economic potential. “These products have both cultural value and high commercial value. I think this is the right direction when combining the preservation of craft villages with the development of cultural industries,” commented Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung, a visitor from Thanh Hoa.
Highlights promoting heritage values
In the context of the whole country promoting the cultural industry, Hai Phong has emerged as one of the localities with the most potential: the number of relics is among the top in the country, and it has a long tradition of mandarin examinations and the identity of an integrated port city. The exhibition not only brings modern technology experiences but also affirms a message: heritage is the foundation, the "gold mine" for Hai Phong to develop the cultural industry.
Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Thi Hoang Mai said: “After the merger, Hai Phong owns the country's leading cultural heritage treasure. In order to preserve lasting cultural values, the city's staff department leads and directs; at the same time, it strengthens guidance for 114 communes, wards and special zones to effectively implement tasks and solutions to preserve and promote local cultural values. The goal is to create a vivid picture, rich in the identity of Eastern culture, and at the same time turn heritage into a resource for the development of the cultural industry."

The exhibition space not only tells the story of the past, but also shows the vision of Hai Phong today. Images of the Television Stage Project, the program "Lighting up the City Theater", tours serving workers, islands or street art projects... are all illustrated by videos and touch screens. Through that, viewers can clearly feel how Hai Phong is turning heritage and art into daily life, so that culture truly reaches all classes of people.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh, a worker at Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park who came to visit with his family, said: “I am very happy to know that the city is interested in bringing art to the industrial park, even to remote islands. That helps workers like us have more spiritual joy.”
Looking to the future, many tourists expressed their expectations for the goals of “Music City” and “Creative City” that Hai Phong is aiming for. By combining heritage preservation with tourism, entertainment and cultural industry development, Hai Phong is seen as a pioneering locality in bringing traditional values into harmony with modern life.
