Hanoi has two more specialized high schools: Chu Van An and Son Tay.

Hanoi decided to convert Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School into specialized schools according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

On January 15, the Hanoi People's Committee issued decisions to reorganize Chu Van An High School into Chu Van An High School for the Gifted; reorganize Son Tay High School into Son Tay High School for the Gifted, under the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

These are two public educational institutions in the national education system and in the general school system of Hanoi city; have legal status, use their own seals and open accounts at the State Treasury and commercial banks according to the provisions of law.

Chu Van An High School for the Gifted and Son Tay High School for the Gifted are organized and operated in compliance with current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training for specialized high schools as prescribed. The school is under the direct and comprehensive direction and management of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and other relevant agencies of Hanoi city.

According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the construction of Chu Van An and Son Tay schools into specialized high schools aims to improve the quality of training and fostering talented students for the capital.

Hanoi currently has 4 specialized high schools, including: Hanoi - Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An and Son Tay. Previously, Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School were two public schools with specialized classes. In the 2024-2025 school year, in addition to enrollment quotas for specialized classes, these two schools will still enroll students in non-specialized classes.
