In recent years, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association has organized many effective and systematic writing camps in many regions with different cultures and activities to inspire creativity for its members. In 2024, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association organized a 4-day writing field trip to the Central region for heads and deputy heads of departments. After the trip, the authors submitted more than 40 works of poetry, photography, fine arts, essays, stage scripts, etc. In the first 6 months of 2025, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association organized 2 writing camps in Giao Thuy district and Quang Binh - Hue provinces. After each writing camp, members submitted many good works, depicting the image of their homeland, country, and people, contributing to enriching the local literature and arts treasure. In addition, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association sent outstanding members to attend a writing camp organized by the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; Direct departments to organize creative camps suitable to the actual conditions of each department, creating conditions for members to meet, exchange, share experiences, nurture emotions and regenerate creative energy.
Sharing about the creative field trips, artist Tran Van Thang, Head of the Fine Arts Department - Provincial Literature and Arts Association, said that each time participating in the creative camp is an opportunity for artists to exchange and learn directly; participate in discussions, and exchange creative experiences with each other. For members of the Fine Arts Department, going on field trips is an opportunity to approach and feel the working life, activities, people, and cultural characteristics of each region and locality. Through that, artists nurture ideas, sketch materials, and then transform them into works of high artistic value with many different forms, materials, and layouts according to their strengths. Quality works are not only selected to be printed in the Van Nhan magazine of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, but are also sent by artists to participate in regional and national fine art exhibitions. Typical examples include: The work "Returning Season on the Central Region" created by artist Tran Van Thang after a field trip to the Central region in 2024, participated in the Fine Arts Exhibition of the Red River Delta Region II in Hai Phong City (August 2024) and won the Encouragement Prize. Or the work "Construction" created by artist Tran Van Thang after a field trip to Giao Thuy District in 2023, was submitted to the Award "Composing and promoting literary, artistic and journalistic works on the theme of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in the period of 2021-2025" launched by the Central Propaganda Department (now the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department) and won the Encouragement Prize.
Not only painting, other subjects also achieved many results from creative camp trips. For poet Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, participating in creative camp is really necessary and useful. On each trip, poets in the Poetry department can interact and exchange with senior members who have extensive creative experience; experience reality, "see with their own eyes, hear with their own ears" the actual circumstances, conditions, land, and people where the poets come to have more emotions and materials to write and complete unfinished works. "Attending the camp is also an opportunity for each member to focus more on writing, have a chance to understand each other better about the circumstances and life, and from there have appropriate behavior", poet Kim Ngan shared more. On each trip to the camp, poet Kim Ngan will complete unfinished poems, compose new articles from sudden inspiration, an average of 5-7 poems. The poems were not only sent to be printed in Van Nhan Magazine as well as some other literature and art publications but were also set to music by many musicians, bringing them closer to the public. For example, the poem " Da Nang - a peaceful city" was set to music by Musician - Meritorious Artist Kieu Du into a good song. Or after participating in a writing camp in Giao Thuy district at the end of April 2025, the poet composed the poem "To the person far from home" with the passage: "Why don't you return to Nam Dinh early this Spring/ Let's go to the suburbs where we used to meet/ Surprised... Reality or dream? Spring is waking up/ Song Hao Bridge - Vu Huu Loi has joined together..." to describe the scene of Nam Dinh changing every day, the people are united in building their homeland and country, firmly entering the era of national growth.
Writer Pham Hong Loan, Head of the Prose Department, said that the creative camp is an indispensable part of the activities of the Literature and Arts Association, so that artists can experience what happens in life, go into the hidden corners of life, to remember, to have the most specific and realistic view, from which to have emotions and vibrations to form materials for literary and artistic creations. To have good works, artists need to experience reality, travel a lot, write a lot, and broaden their vision. Literary and artistic works must still take off from reality, imbued with the breath of the times and aiming for the values of truth - goodness - beauty. Each creative field trip leaves writer Hong Loan with special emotions, with more information, valuable real-life materials, moments of sublimation, and new inspiration to create quality works; Participate in a vibrant, effective, quality living environment, enhance team spirit, cohesion, and sharing among members.
With flexible and creative organization, choosing destinations with cultural and historical depth by the Provincial Literature and Arts Association in recent times, the creative camps have become a creative breakthrough for the artists, creating works bearing the mark of the times; contributing to highlighting the cultural identity of Nam Dinh in the general flow of national culture.
