According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, in the new school year, Ho Chi Minh City will implement a regulation that students will not use phones in school. Phones can only be used during class hours when teachers allow them according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. In case students need to use phones, the school must ensure a free communication channel for students.

Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will organize a workshop to collect opinions from experts and parents about students not using phones in schools; analyze the effectiveness and benefits of this regulation. In the 2024-2025 school year, many schools have implemented not allowing students to use phones in schools, but there is no uniformity and no absolute support from parents.
