Towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, Ho Chi Minh City People's Radio (VOH) in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Chess Federation and RoyalChess Center organized the VOH Open Chess Tournament for the RoyalChess Cup 2025.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Binh - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City People's Radio Station - delivered the opening speech.
The tournament took place all day on June 7 at the RoyalChess Phu Nhuan Center, gathering nearly 50 players who are reporters and editors from 12 press and radio agencies in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces. This is the first time a hidden chess tournament has been organized exclusively for journalists - those who always live in the fast pace of the news, but still keep their love for the national intellectual chess game.

The important match of the champion
Competing in five rounds in the Swiss format, player Phan Thanh Hung ( Binh Duong Radio and Television Station) won the championship, receiving a gold medal and 5 million VND. Doan Van Nien (Binh Duong Newspaper) won a silver medal and 3 million VND, and Dao Anh Duc (Ho Chi Minh City Television Station) won a bronze medal and received a prize of 2 million VND.
In addition, players from 4th to 10th place were awarded consolation prizes, each worth 1 million VND.
Binh Duong Newspaper Team won the team championship
In the team event, Binh Duong Newspaper team won the championship with a total of 13 points, bringing home the gold cup and a prize of 5 million VND. The Binh Duong Radio and Television Station team came in second with 12 points, receiving a silver cup and 3 million VND. The Ho Chi Minh City Television Station team came in third with 10 points, receiving a bronze cup and a prize of 2 million VND.

The VOH 2025 Chinese Chess Tournament ended in a joyful, exciting and emotional atmosphere. Not just a simple sports tournament, this is also an opportunity for journalists to meet, share and connect in an intellectual space, spreading the spirit of humanity, solidarity and creativity that journalism has always preserved for a century.
