Previously, on July 3, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh signed Decision No. 2312/QD-BVHTTDL to change the name of the National Press Award "For the cause of developing Culture, Sports and Tourism", issued together with Decision No. 2450/QD-BVHTTDL dated October 5, 2022 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to the National Press Award "For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture". The Decision takes effect from the date of signing.
Implementing the direction of Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, together with Deputy Minister Nguyen Hai Binh, Van Hoa Newspaper has drafted the Plan and regulations of the National Press "For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture" for the 3rd time in 2025 in the spirit of innovation in the context of the tournament changing its name with a larger scale and stature.
Speaking at the press conference, Editor-in-Chief of Van Hoa Newspaper Nguyen Anh Vu shared: After taking over the functions of press management, publishing, and foreign information from the Ministry of Information and Communications (formerly), the functions and tasks of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have also changed. Therefore, the scale and stature of the award have also been enhanced, and the name of the award has also been changed to be appropriate.
"This change does not affect the time of posting/broadcasting the works. Hopefully, the National Press Award 'For the development of Vietnamese culture' will continue to receive the attention and support of reporters," added Editor-in-Chief of Van Hoa Newspaper Nguyen Anh Vu.
The 3rd National Press Award "For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture" has some contents continuing in the regulations of the 2nd National Press Award "For the cause of developing Culture, Sports and Tourism" to ensure the inheritance, continuity, consistency and professionalism of a national press award, reflecting the continuous development of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism throughout the period and term.

The award rules emphasize that the works are selected and awarded to authors or groups of authors, excellent journalistic works, reflecting real people, real events, discovering, accurately and promptly reflecting on groups, individuals, positive actions, typical advances, criticizing bad habits and vices in society...
According to Phan Thanh Nam, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Culture Newspaper, this year’s competition has expanded the focus of the entries. In addition to the content revolving around the fields of culture, sports and tourism as in previous seasons, in the third season, contestants can enter the competition with articles about journalism and publishing.
Some of the contents include: the press with the responsibility of spreading the message about the era of national development; digital transformation of the press; celebrating the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (1925-2025); promoting the development of reading culture in the community, family, school and society; communicating about digital transformation in libraries to form a modern library network, improve the operational capacity of libraries, provide new library services to meet the needs of users, contribute to improving people's knowledge, building a learning society...

The journalism genres considered for awards are journalistic works such as reflections, reports, investigations, documentaries, memoirs, talk shows (except live radio and television programs)... on culture, information, family, sports and tourism published and broadcast for the first time in various types of press: print newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio, television, photo newspapers from June 16, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
Regarding the award structure, for the collective award, 3 equal awards will be given to 3 press agencies with many works participating in the award and achieving high results. For the individual award, the Organizing Committee will award 1 First Prize, 3 Second Prizes, 5 Third Prizes and 10 Encouragement Prizes for each press category.
The National Press Award "For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture" aims to recognize and honor the outstanding contributions of collectives and individuals of the press team to the cause of developing Vietnamese culture.
Through that, information and introduction of results and achievements of culture, information, family, sports and tourism work. At the same time, discover typical advanced examples in the culture, information, family, sports and tourism sector; encourage and motivate cadres in the whole sector to join hands and continue to contribute more to the cause of developing Vietnamese culture.
The Closing and Award Ceremony is scheduled to be held in Hanoi on October 20.
Applications for the 3rd National Press Award "For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture" should be submitted directly or sent by post to the Culture Newspaper (the standing agency of the award) at: No. 33, Lane 294/2, Kim Ma Street, Ngoc Ha Ward, Hanoi.
