However, the case of table tennis player Le Dinh Duc – who almost lost his career and the ability to walk without the humane decision of Mr. Hien – has proven that compassion is also an extremely important “link” for long-term success – a factor that the press has called “a very humane decision” in Mr. Hien’s case.

Going back in time to 2013, when Duc was seriously ill and facing the risk of disability, Do Quang Hien, the chairman of the Hanoi T&T table tennis club, chose to act on the call of “heart”. Instead of leaving the fate of a young athlete who might no longer be able to contribute to his achievements, he decided to invest money and effort to save Duc.

This decision was first and foremost out of compassion: “Even if Duc cannot compete in the future, we must help him walk and live like a normal person” – the words of Mr. Hien were full of kindness. Thanks to that help, Duc was given a second chance, not only to recover his health but also to return to the professional arena.

Each dose of special medicine for Duc at that time cost more than 20 million VND - a huge amount compared to the income of a young athlete - but thanks to the wholehearted support from Mr. Hien, the financial issue was never a barrier to the treatment process.

The value of this act of charity was clearly demonstrated in the results that followed. Three years after the incident, Le Dinh Duc stood up from his hospital bed, picked up his racket and entered tournaments with extraordinary determination. He not only regained his form but also continuously achieved success in the national arena, becoming one of the pillars of the T&T People's Police table tennis team.

Without the kindness of Mr. Hien in the past, that talent would probably never have had time to shine. In other words, the kindness of sports people has directly contributed to the creation of an excellent athlete, bringing more glory to the country's sports.
