Gia Lai: More than 120 children from Duc Co district participate in the 2025 Swimming Competition

VHO - On June 11, at Long Khanh swimming pool, Chu Ty town, the Duc Co District Culture - Information and Sports Center (Gia Lai province) held the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 Swimming Tournament for Children.

The organizers awarded prizes to athletes with high achievements at the swimming competition.

The swimming tournament attracted more than 120 athletes from clubs and communes in the district. The athletes competed in 17 events for ages 6-15.

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Vu Hien - Director of Duc Co District Culture, Sports and Tourism Center, emphasized:

“The 3rd Duc Co District Swimming Tournament in 2025 is held to honor the sport of swimming and improve the health and swimming skills of the community. This is an important sporting event, not only for athletes but also to encourage everyone, especially young people, to participate in sports training.

Swimming is not only a fun and healthy sport but also a necessary life skill, especially in the context of increasingly serious drowning accidents.

Therefore, the Swimming Competition is a meaningful activity to promote the role and responsibility of authorities at all levels, as well as to create a spread to attract the attention and cooperation of society to accompany the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Departmentof Education in implementing the movement of learning to swim safely and solutions to prevent and combat drowning accidents, protecting the health and lives of children and students.

The tournament is also an opportunity for us to review and evaluate the swimming training movement in the district over the past year.

Hopefully, through this tournament, not only will the athletes compete with all their might to win, but it will also be an opportunity for them to exchange, learn, develop, and share experiences."

The swimming tournament attracted more than 120 athletes from clubs and communes in the district to participate.

Despite the unfavorable weather, the atmosphere at Long Khanh swimming pool was lively and bustling with enthusiastic cheers from the audience for the athletes participating in the competition. In addition to the competition, the athletes were also educated on drowning prevention and instructed on basic skills to rescue drowning victims.

At the end of the tournament, the Organizing Committee awarded 17 sets of medals to athletes with high achievements in the competitions of the age groups.

The organization of the Duc Co District Swimming Competition aims to promote the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" in the period of 2021-2030 and develop the swimming movement for children, students and the community.

Thereby, promoting propaganda activities, raising awareness and responsibility for preventing and combating child drowning; creating dissemination, forming habits and skills to prevent and combat drowning and protect oneself from drowning accidents.
