Domestic coffee prices continue to set new records, approaching 124,000 VND/kg

(GLO)- Today (August 21), domestic and international coffee prices both increased sharply. In the domestic market, coffee continued to set a new record, approaching 124,000 VND/kg, with an increase of 3,300-3,600 VND/kg.

Specifically, in Gia Lai province, coffee prices today increased by 3,400-3,500 VND/kg depending on the region, raising the transaction price to 123,400-123,500 VND/kg.

Similarly, coffee prices in Quang Ngai province are currently at VND123,400/kg (up VND3,400/kg); in Dak Lak it is VND123,700/kg (up VND3,600/kg).

Coffee in Lam Dong province is being purchased by traders at 120,000-123,900 VND/kg (an increase of 3,300-3,600 VND/kg).

Domestic coffee prices continue to be higher than futures prices on the floor because Vietnam is at the end of the crop season and domestic production is still very low. Moreover, the export coffee prices of businesses are still high due to previously signed contracts, so this price difference is not too unusual.

Globally, coffee prices continued to rise sharply, especially Robusta, which increased by 5% while inventories on the ICE exchange fell to a three-week low. Similarly, Arabica prices continued to rise.

Of which, the price of Robusta on the London floor for delivery in September 2025 increased by 236 USD (equivalent to 5.35%), reaching 4,646 USD/ton; the delivery term in November 2025 increased by 133 USD (equivalent to 3.12%), at 4,401 USD/ton.

On the New York floor, the price of Arabica for September 2025 delivery increased sharply by 4.05 cents (equivalent to 1.14%), to 360.25 cents/lb; the December 2025 delivery period increased by 4.40 cents (equivalent to 1.26%), to 353.45 cents/lb.

The reason for the price increase is the 50% US tariff on Brazilian coffee; the frosty weather in Brazil is threatening coffee production, causing exports to decrease. Not only that, the weak USD also creates conditions for this agricultural product to increase more strongly.
