At the end of last week, coffee prices continued their downward trend, marking the 7th consecutive week of decline. However, the positive point is that the decrease has narrowed compared to previous weeks. In particular, Dak Nong recorded the sharpest decrease of the week, losing 1,700 VND/kg. In Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, coffee prices also decreased by 1,500 VND/kg.

In the domestic market, coffee prices are also on a downward trend, with trading activity relatively slow. Some traders in the growing areas said that farmers are not yet ready to sell at current prices. Many are holding onto their stocks waiting for better prices, especially in the context of the international market showing no signs of stabilization.

Data from the Vietnamese government shows that in the first five months of 2025, Vietnam exported 813,000 tons of coffee, down 1.8% year-on-year. However, revenue increased sharply by 62.3% to $4.7 billion. In May alone, export volume reached 148,000 tons, up 59% year-on-year.

Although the recent storm No. 1 caused heavy rain, it did not directly affect Vietnam's main coffee growing regions, as it did not make landfall.

World coffee prices today

On the world market, coffee prices also continued to decline. On the London exchange, the robusta contract for July 2025 delivery closed the week at $4,438/ton, down slightly by $2/ton. The September contract fell more sharply, down 1.2%, or $52/ton, to $4,287/ton.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for July 2025 delivery fell 2.3%, equivalent to 8.4 US cents/pound, to 349.7 US cents/pound. The September contract fell 2.7%, or 9.4 cents/pound, to close at 346 cents/pound.

International coffee prices continued to come under downward pressure amid concerns over ample supplies from major producing countries. The price of Arabica coffee for July delivery fell to a two-week low. Similarly, Robusta coffee prices also fell sharply, with the July contract hitting a seven-month low.

Pressure from increased supply is the main reason for the weakening coffee prices. According to a report on May 19 by the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the US Department of Agriculture, Brazil’s coffee production in the 2025–26 crop year is expected to reach 65 million bags, up 0.5% from the previous year. Vietnam’s output is forecast to increase by 6.9% to 31 million bags. The ongoing harvest in Indonesia and the upcoming harvest in Brazil continue to reinforce the bearish sentiment in the international market.

Despite the market correction, global coffee demand is still considered to be recovering well. Analysts expect this to be a potential support factor for coffee prices in the coming time, especially as consumers continue to prefer caffeinated products.

In the short term, the coffee market continues to fluctuate in a narrow range, depending on weather developments and harvest rates in key producing countries.
