Nearly 99.6% of candidates took the first subject exam.

At the end of the Literature exam, at 30 exam locations, there were 16,454 candidates taking the exam, reaching nearly 99.58%; 38 candidates were exempted from the exam, including 10 candidates who were allowed to take the second round of the national excellent student exam to compete in the International Olympic competition, 28 candidates with disabilities; 31 candidates were absent, of which 5 candidates were sick or had an accident before the exam, 4 candidates did not take the exam, only wanted a certificate of completion of the 12th grade program, 22 candidates had no reason.

Literature is the first subject of the 2025 high school graduation exam with an essay format and a 120-minute test duration.

Evaluating the exam, candidate Nguyen Hong Anh, Tam Duong High School, excitedly shared: “This year’s exam was not too difficult, did not challenge students and was quite good, with differentiation among students. I was impressed with the question that relied heavily on my own understanding to write about the changing context of the country, helping us demonstrate our abilities, awareness and life experience. I am confident that I got more than 80%.”

Candidate Nguyen Dao Bao An, taking the exam at Tam Duong High School, said: "The Literature exam closely followed the content of the 2018 GeneralEducation Program. The exam used materials outside of the textbook, but we had studied and reviewed them so we were not surprised. I was able to do about 70% of the test."

According to the quick report of the Examination Council, in the first exam, there were no cases of candidates and invigilators violating the exam regulations; the checking and sealing of the exam boxes were carried out in the exam room in accordance with regulations; the work of ensuring security and order, traffic safety, food safety and hygiene, and disease prevention and control was carried out seriously; there were no unusual incidents; the safety of candidates and officials participating in the exam was ensured.

In the afternoon, candidates took the Math exam with 90 minutes to complete.
