Specifically, 11,337 hectares of newly sown rice were flooded, including 622 hectares in Dong Hoi City, 419 hectares in Tuyen Hoa, 2,500 hectares in Bo Trach, 2,160 hectares in Ba Don Town, 1,777 hectares in Le Thuy, 2,383 hectares in Quang Ninh , and 1,475 hectares in Quang Trach. In addition, 7,152 hectares of regenerated rice in Le Thuy district were also flooded.
Besides rice, the province also has 285 hectares of flooded crops, including 212 hectares of vegetables, 8 hectares of sesame, 50 hectares of corn, 9.5 hectares of peanuts and 5.5 hectares of lotus.
Head of the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection Ho Khac Minh said: At this time, localities are implementing the planting of summer-autumn crops in 2025, the rice area has been sown 14,250ha/14,500ha, reaching 98.3% of the plan.
Currently, heavy rains have caused flooding in many agricultural production areas, affecting the growth and development of crops, especially rice and short-term crops in the summer-autumn crop. The Department of Agriculture and Environment is continuing to direct localities to monitor and respond to the flood situation, with immediate priority given to implementing measures to drain water from fields; quickly harvesting the late-season rice area of the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop (about 700 hectares left); then there will be specific care and remedial instructions for each affected crop.
