Planting specialty trees to attract visitors to check-in

With the advantage of having many areas of delicious fruit trees, Dong Nai strongly develops garden tourism and eco-tourism models. However, in addition to this model, many farmers choose to grow unique and strange varieties of trees but do not make garden tourism models that require systematic and costly investment, but choose to open their gardens to sell fruit directly to tourists.

With this solution, visitors can go to the garden to play, take check-in photos and enjoy unique specialties right at the garden, buy specialties as gifts without having to pay an entrance fee. This model benefits both farmers and diners when farmers sell fruits at high prices, diners can come to the garden to experience fruit picking, enjoy delicious fruits at better prices than buying through other distribution channels.

Go to the garden to buy ripe fruit

Mr. Nguyen Duc Toan's "unique" apple garden is grown right in the mango capital in the remote Ma Da commune, Vinh Cuu district. Therefore, this fruit garden always attracts a large number of local and neighboring visitors to visit and buy fruit to enjoy. This garden is about 2,500 m2 wide, grown in a greenhouse according to the safe production process VietGAP. Mr. Toan is shifting to organic garden care, the irrigation water source is natural water from Tri An lake. Thanks to that, the apples produced have a delicious, rich flavor, ensuring safety, so consumers can rest assured to buy and enjoy.

In addition to investing in and taking care of orchards to attract customers to buy delicious fruits, many farmers take advantage of social networking sites to promote and connect sales directly to consumers. Recently, Dong Nai province has also paid great attention to many support programs and training for farmers on skills to organize the sale of agricultural products through e-commerce platforms.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Toan happily boasted that the clean, high-quality fruit not only attracts local people to come to the garden to buy and enjoy, but also many famous tourists who do not hesitate to travel through the forest to come to the garden to try and buy as gifts. Thanks to retailing directly to consumers, the gardener can sell at a higher price, and consumers can buy fresh fruit at a better price because it does not go through an intermediary distribution stage.

The fruit garden of Mr. Nguyen Hiep's family in Hamlet 4, Tra Co Commune, Tan Phu District grows many unique and strange varieties of trees such as pomelos, dates, etc. For nearly 20 years, every harvest, his family has opened the garden to welcome customers to buy retail. Unlike other gardens that do tourism, visitors who come to visit and enjoy delicious fruits have to pay an entrance fee. Visitors to Mr. Hiep's specialty fruit garden are free to take photos, try the ripe fruit that has just been picked, and if they find it delicious, they can order some to enjoy. In his garden, there is a drink counter serving several soft drinks, including pomelo juice sold for only 15,000 VND/cup, creating excitement for visitors. The garden owners are always happy to talk to customers, inviting them to enjoy the garden's delicious fruits for free. Sell agricultural products directly to consumers

Going to the garden to learn about the cultivation process, ensuring the enjoyment of delicious, safe fruit is also a trend that consumers increasingly favor. Seeing the effectiveness of this model and facing the changing needs of consumers, many farmers have switched to organic, safe production and retail to consumers. In particular, after the Covid-19 pandemic, many gardeners have had difficulty selling fresh fruit, so farmers have been more proactive in finding outlets for their products. Opening the door to welcome customers to the garden to buy ripe fruit has become a movement that is increasingly spreading in localities.

An Phuoc Commune (Long Thanh District) is famous for its An Phuoc strawberry specialty area with large, sweet fruits. Thanks to its delicious quality, this is a tourist specialty that is sold at many rest stops and some tourist destinations inside and outside the province. Therefore, during the strawberry season, many tourists come to this specialty area to enjoy and buy ripe fruits.

Mr. Huynh Van Son, a famous local man with a long-standing strawberry garden with delicious fruit, shared that along with the new rural construction movement, spacious asphalt roads have been invested to the garden. The locality encourages and supports farmers to build clean and beautiful model gardens. Accordingly, during the strawberry season, many customers from inside and outside the province come to this specialty area to enjoy delicious fruit. Anticipating the new consumption trend, many farmers in this specialty area open their gardens to sell strawberries directly to consumers. They also actively switch to organic production, making delicious and safe strawberries to retain customers.

The 2-hectare grapefruit garden of Mr. Ngo Van Son's family in Tan Binh commune, Vinh Cuu district is a nearly 20-year-old grapefruit garden. He is a pioneer in the locality in growing according to VietGAP standards, so the fruit is delicious and safe. Therefore, over the years, he has had many regular customers coming to the garden to order grapefruit. Mr. Son shared that by selling grapefruit directly to the garden, farmers not only sell at a high price but the product also increases brand recognition with consumers. Therefore, during the Tet grapefruit season, Mr. Son also invests in making gourd grapefruit to sell to customers to buy for Tet, creating a unique attraction, increasing the number of individual customers coming to the garden to order.
