Specifically, about a week ago, patient Nguyen Thi Lanh (46 years old, residing in Xuan Truong commune, Xuan Loc district) went to Long Khanh Regional General Hospital after a long period of dull pain in the left flank. Through examination, doctors discovered a large stone in the left kidney. In addition, doctors also suspected that in addition to the problem of large, complex stones in the left kidney, the patient also had a congenital urinary tract defect.

Dr. Nguyen Phuoc, Deputy Head of the Department of Nephrology and Urology, Long Khanh Regional General Hospital, shared that the patient may have a narrowing of the renal pelvis junction. If left untreated, the kidney may be completely destroyed. Therefore, the doctors advised the patient to undergo retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery to remove the stone; at the same time, correct other abnormalities of the urinary tract during the surgery.

It is known that the patient discovered hydronephrosis since childhood and had visited many places for examination and internal medicine treatment but still had dull pain on the left side.
