Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung signed Decision No. 2021//QD-BVHTTDL dated June 18, 2025 on the establishment of the Council for Appraisal of the Task of establishing a Plan for the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the special national relic of Cua Ong Temple historical site, Quang Ninh province.

Accordingly, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to establish a Council to appraise the Task of establishing a Plan for the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the special national relic of Cua Ong Temple historical site, Quang Ninh province.

Dr. Architect Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is the Chairman of the Council; Associate Professor Dr. Le Thi Thu Hien, Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is the Vice Chairman of the Council.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Van Bai, Vice Chairman of the National Cultural Heritage Council and Architect Tran Quoc Tuan, Deputy Director of the Institute for Monument Conservation, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are the reviewers.

The Council is responsible for appraising the Task of establishing a Plan for the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the special national historical relic of Cua Ong Temple, Quang Ninh province, synthesizing the report of results and submitting it to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration and decision.

The Council is responsible for its assessments and conclusions.

The Council dissolves itself upon completion of its mission.

  • Cua Ong Temple, also known as Cua Suot Temple, Dong Hai Linh Tu, is located in Cua Ong Ward, Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh Province. This is the place to worship Hung Nhuong Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tang and many famous figures of the Tran Dynasty and is also the place where the Cua Ong Temple Festival takes place every year. At the end of 2017, Cua Ong Temple was ranked by the government as a special national monument.

  • The history of the formation of Cua Ong Temple is closely linked to the resistance war against the Yuan-Mongol army of the Tran Dynasty. In 1288, the Yuan-Mongol army invaded our country for the third time. Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan commanded the army and people of the Tran Dynasty to defeat the Yuan-Mongol army in the famous Bach Dang battle. And assigned Hung Nhuong Vuong Tran Quoc Tang to guard the northeastern sea of ​​the country.
  • In addition, Cua Ong Temple Festival is one of the major festivals of Quang Ninh province, held annually in February and August of the lunar calendar. Cua Ong Temple Festival is a traditional festival imbued with the cultural identity of the Vietnamese people. The festival is held with many rich rituals and activities, an opportunity for people and tourists to remember and pay tribute to the generals who contributed to the resistance war against the Yuan-Mongol army, and also an opportunity for people to pray for favorable weather, national peace and prosperity.
