In India, within just 28 hours of its launch, the Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 had more than 100,000 pre-orders, nearly double the number of pre-orders for their predecessors, the Z Fold4 and Z Flip4. Samsung said it started accepting orders from July 27 and the products will be available from August 18 in this billion-people market.
“We are pleased that the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 have been so well received in India. These new devices reflect our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers through the latest technologies,” said JB Park, President and CEO of Samsung South West Asia.
Samsung introduced its two latest foldable phones at the Galaxy Unpacked event held in Seoul on July 26. The flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip is said to be the most significant upgrade of the Fold5 and Flip5 compared to their predecessors.
Along with that, the Korean electronics manufacturer also introduced new hinge technology (Flex Hinge) to both products, completely eliminating the screen gap when the user folds the device.
In terms of internal memory, the Z Flip5 is equipped with 256 GB of memory, along with a new 3.4-inch external screen, significantly larger than the 1.9-inch of the Flip4. According to Samsung, the launch of the Galaxy Z series 5 has created a wave of discussion in technology communities and forums. In particular, the Flip5 line recorded a 50% increase in orders compared to the old model.
With the Z Fold5 model, the Korean giant positions the device as a production hub, with a 7.6-inch AMOLED main screen and a 6.2-inch external screen with HD+ resolution, both screens of the Fold5 have a 120 Hz refresh rate.
Additionally, both products are also water-resistant with IPX8, Armor Aluminum frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
