FPT Digital accompanies businesses in building a green energy transition process

On May 15 in Hanoi, FPT Digital, in collaboration with the Green Development Subcommittee, EuroCham Vietnam and SP Group Vietnam, organized the DxHub event with the theme “Orientation for sustainable energy transition and practical implementation for manufacturing enterprises”. The event provided practical perspectives and experiences of sustainable energy transition around the world as well as appropriate approaches for Vietnamese enterprises. At the COP26 Conference, Vietnam committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 43.5%, as well as determining that the proportion of renewable energy accounts for 70% of the energy development plan by 2050. Vietnam's industrial parks and manufacturing plants play an important role in this transition. FPT Digital Consulting Director Le Vu Minh said that industrial production activities in Vietnam still depend heavily on fossil energy sources, so when energy demand increases, greenhouse gas emissions will increase significantly. Therefore, to achieve the commitment target under COP26, the transition to green energy in all sectors, especially manufacturing enterprises in Vietnam, is a mandatory requirement. Mr. Minh also pointed out: Green energy will help enterprises achieve dual goals, both improving competitiveness and meeting the standards of stakeholders for manufacturing enterprises, especially the standards of major import markets such as the US, Japan, and Europe. This becomes even more favorable in the context of operating costs and the use of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy, etc. In recent years, it has tended to become cheaper and cheaper. In addition, investment in renewable energy systems is also supported by incentive policies from the government , including funding packages, taxes and other incentives, helping to reduce the total initial investment cost. In the long term, businesses applying green energy will be more highly appreciated by investors due to the potential to create sustainable profits and be responsible for the environment. In addition, the business brand will create a better impression on all parties from employees to customers, suppliers, partners, etc., when they increasingly meet environmental and social requirements.

Self-producing green energy such as solar power, wind power, or bioenergy can bring many benefits but requires large initial investments and complex technical knowledge. Mr. Tran Quoc Hai, Director of Sustainable Energy Transition at SP Group, said that in addition to investing in green energy production systems, Vietnamese enterprises can also purchase energy from suppliers such as SP Group, depending on the needs, business goals and specific conditions of each enterprise. This option, in addition to being more flexible and faster, also helps enterprises save time and investment resources. However, Mr. Stuart Livesey, Co-Chairman of the Green Development Subcommittee, Eurocham Vietnam, said that there are still some barriers to energy transition in Vietnam. The first is the problem of grid infrastructure synchronization. Unevenness in grid infrastructure development can limit the ability to integrate renewable energy sources into the grid system, especially in remote areas. Second, the energy market in Vietnam is still in the process of initial transformation, so it is necessary to quickly complete mechanisms and policies to promote and encourage the use of renewable energy from businesses as well as attract investors in the clean energy industry. FPT Digital representatives made some recommendations for manufacturing enterprises to integrate energy conversion with digital transformation. Accordingly, digital transformation will help control energy demand, promote the process of smart, efficient and accurate energy transition across the entire enterprise value chain. These are all strategic transformation directions of enterprises.
