On December 26, the People's Court of Ha Tinh province opened a first-instance trial and sentenced defendant Le Dinh Thuc (born in 1969, residing in Quang Trung village, Thinh Loc commune, Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh province) to life in prison for the crime of "Murder".
Le Dinh Thuc and the victim, Mr. QTB (born in 1953), are neighbors, living in the same Quang Trung village, Thinh Loc commune, Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh province. At around 7:00 p.m. on August 6, 2023, Le Dinh Thuc was home alone when he heard a noise on the tin roof of his house.
Thinking that someone was throwing rocks at the roof, Le Dinh Thuc took a knife and stood in front of the gate. Looking around, he saw Mr. QTB and Mr. L.D.Q. (born in 1963, living in the same village) sitting and talking to each other.
Because he suspected that Mr. QTB and Mr. L.D.Q. threw rocks at his house, Le Dinh Thuc asked loudly, then the two sides exchanged words. Le Dinh Thuc used a sharp knife to stab Mr. QTB 4 times. After being stabbed, Mr. QTB was taken by people to the medical station of Thinh Loc commune, Loc Ha district for emergency treatment but died on the way.
After committing the crime, Le Dinh Thuc continued to go into the house to get a pair of scissors for self-defense and fled the scene. When he reached the gate, he met Mr. TQB (born in 1970, living in the same village). Afraid that Mr. TQB would catch him, Thuc took the scissors and stabbed Mr. TQB in the back, causing a 2% injury to his body, then fled.
On the evening of August 11, when Le Dinh Thuc was hiding in the sandy area of Chan Tien cemetery (Thinh Loc commune, Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh province), he was discovered and arrested by the authorities.
