Tạp chí Doanh NghiệpTạp chí Doanh Nghiệp19/10/2024

The first batches of fresh coconuts from Vietnam exported to the Chinese market have been cleared smoothly at land border gates with this country.

Recently, a refrigerated truck carrying fresh Vietnamese coconuts cleared customs and entered the country smoothly through the Hekou border gate in Yunnan province (China), adjacent to the Lao Cai border gate (Vietnam). This shipment of fresh coconuts originated from Ben Tre province, with a total weight of 21.6 tons and a value of 110,000 yuan (about 15,000 USD). This is the first shipment of fresh Vietnamese coconuts imported by road into China.

According to statistics, in the three quarters of 2024, Hekou Customs supervised the import of 734,000 tons of Vietnamese fruits with a total value of 8.11 billion yuan (about 1.14 billion USD), up 26.9% and 143.5% respectively over the same period last year.

In the coming time, Hekou Customs will combine the characteristics of China-Vietnam trade, continue to promote the construction of smart customs and smart border gates to help China-Vietnam trade reach a new height.

A shipment of fresh Vietnamese coconuts weighing 22.4 tons worth 98,000 yuan (about 14,000 USD) was also transported to the Youyiguan border gate in Pingxiang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China), and after passing inspection, cleared customs into the Chinese market.

This is the first time fresh Vietnamese coconuts have been cleared through the Guangxi border gate into China after being licensed by Chinese authorities to open the market from August 2024.

The first batch of fresh Vietnamese coconuts that Guangxi imported also originated from Ben Tre province, with a collection and transportation time of about 3 days to the border gate, and a customs clearance time of less than 2 hours. The destination of this shipment was Hunan province, located deep inland in China.

Since the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement, Vietnam has added four new fruits including durian, banana, watermelon, and coconut, which have been allowed to be imported by China through the Huu Nghi border gate.

The successful import of this batch of fresh coconuts is the latest achievement of China and Vietnam in promoting the mutual supply and export of high-quality agricultural products and deepening trade cooperation between the two countries; at the same time, it is also for the two sides to thoroughly implement the contents of the Joint Statement on Relations between China and Vietnam.
