Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports Sorawong Thienthong said that data collected from January to June 2025 showed that Thai people made more than 100 million domestic trips. Accordingly, domestic tourism in Thailand achieved a growth rate of nearly 2.5% compared to the same period in the first 6 months of 2024.
Previously, in 2024, Thailand's domestic tourism also achieved a growth rate of more than 5.3% compared to 2023. This is a positive signal showing the recovery, continuous and sustainable development of the tourism industry in the context of Thailand facing many economic difficulties, including high household debt.

According to a report by the Bank of Thailand, as of June 30, total household debt is currently at about 16.3 trillion baht (equivalent to about 500 billion USD). This figure is equivalent to more than 85% of Thailand's gross domestic product (GDP).
The Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand hopes that, with the current trend, domestic tourism in Thailand will continue to develop positively and sustainably in the coming time.
