Hanoi tourism welcomes strong increase in visitors during National Day

According to the report of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in August, the number of tourists to Hanoi is estimated at 3.18 million, of which international tourists are estimated at 709,22 thousand, up 42.6% over the same period in 2024 (including 500 thousand international tourists with accommodation); domestic tourists are estimated at 2.47 million, up 23.8% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at 12.54 trillion VND, up 31.5% over the same period in 2024.

– According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism , in August 2025, the total number of tourists to Hanoi is estimated to reach 3.18 million, an increase of 27.5% over the same period in 2024. The number of visitors to Hanoi during the September 2 holiday is expected to increase by 40% - 50% over last year.

Tourists to the capital in August increased by more than 27.5%

It is expected that in the first 8 months of 2025, the total number of tourists to Hanoi is estimated at 21.58 million, an increase of 13.9% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international tourists are estimated at 4.96 million, an increase of 25.8% over the same period in 2024 (including 3.49 million international tourists with accommodation), domestic tourists are estimated at 16.62 million, an increase of 10.7% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 85,835 trillion, an increase of 17.1% over the same period in 2024.

In August 2025, the average room occupancy rate of the hotel block is estimated at 59%, an increase of 2 percentage points over the same period in 2024.

Regarding the number of tourist accommodation establishments, Hanoi has 3,761 accommodation establishments with 71,256 rooms; of which there are 85 hotels and apartment complexes within the period of being ranked from 1 to 5 stars with a total of 11,965 rooms, specifically: 23 hotels and 07 apartment complexes ranked 5 stars; 16 hotels and 01 apartment complex ranked 4 stars; 12 hotels ranked 3 stars; 14 hotels ranked 2 stars and 12 hotels ranked 1 star. The number of tourist accommodation establishments that have not registered for ranking is 3,676 with 59,291 rooms.

Regarding standard tourism services, in Hanoi there are currently 58 service businesses recognized as meeting standards for serving tourists, including: 25 food service businesses, 22 shopping service businesses, 09 entertainment business establishments, 02 health care service businesses.

The system of shopping, dining and entertainment facilities that meet tourist standards has attracted and served a large number of tourists and residents to visit and shop.

Expect strong growth in visitor numbers in September

This year, Hanoi is the focal point for organizing activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and National Day September 2, especially the organization of the military parade on September 2, so experts predict that the number of visitors to the capital will increase sharply. In addition, the 4-day September 2 holiday will be a great opportunity for the capital's tourism industry to accelerate, welcoming the largest number of visitors of the year.

According to information from the Booking.com platform, since the beginning of August, Hanoi has risen to the top of the list of destinations most searched by Vietnamese people during the September 2 holiday. Data from the online hotel booking platform Agoda also shows that during the National Day holiday on September 2, Hanoi led the travel trend with the number of accommodation searches increasing more than 44 times compared to the same period in 2024.

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the number of visitors to Hanoi during the September 2nd holiday is expected to increase by 40% - 50% compared to last year. Currently, many 2-3 star hotels in the central area are fully booked, while 4-5 star hotels have a booking rate of 60-70%, and are expected to be fully booked by the September 2nd holiday.

To prepare for welcoming a large number of visitors to the capital on the occasion of September 2, the Hanoi Department of Tourism has launched a product set called “80 Hanoi experiences not to be missed during the historic festival season”. The products are divided into many thematic groups: Heritage – Culture – History; Ecology – Resort – Nature; Cuisine – Shopping – Urban Experience; Art – Night – Creativity; Agriculture – Craft Villages – New Rural Areas and Transport – Metro – Railway – Waterway – Aviation. The highlight is the two-story tourist train “Nam Cua O” – The Hanoi Train, inaugurated on August 19, consisting of 5 passenger carriages named after famous gates (O Cau Den, O Quan Chuong, O Cau Giay, O Cho Dua, O Dong Mac), combining nostalgic design with typical cultural and culinary experiences.

In the suburbs of Hanoi, the Hanoi Department of Tourism also introduced many new tourism products such as the "Nam Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Road" route; the program "Discovering Ba Vi's identity" with Muong and Dao cultural experiences; and health care resort tourism.
