(PLVN) - Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, has just signed a plan to organize the Ceremony to announce resolutions and decisions to establish the new Ho Chi Minh City, establish the new Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and appoint key leaders. This is a political and administrative event of special significance, marking an important turning point in the process of reorganizing administrative units (ADUs) in the area.

Accordingly, Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces will merge into Ho Chi Minh City to become a new city, still called Ho Chi Minh City.

The new Ho Chi Minh City has an area of ​​over 6,772 square kilometers, a population of over 14 million people, with 168 commune-level administrative units, including 113 wards, 54 communes and 1 special zone.

On the afternoon of June 30, the Standing Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee and the Standing Committee of Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee also directed the affiliated localities (before arrangement) to organize the Ceremony to announce the resolutions and decisions of the province related to the administrative units at the commune and special economic zones.
