In the immediate future, the authorities will temporarily reinforce the area with sandbags and coordinate with the Southern Institute of Water Resources to survey and propose a long-term treatment plan.
Mr. Le Hung Cuong, Vice Chairman of Thuong Phuoc Commune People's Committee, said that due to the flood season, the Tien River's water level is high and the current is strong, so the risk of landslides continues to increase. The authorities have strictly prohibited water and land vehicles from approaching the area until further notice.

Previously, at noon on August 12, a landslide of about 55m long occurred on the Thuong Thoi Tien embankment, damaging the entire embankment, collapsing the sidewalk and railing 30m long, 8m wide, and eating into the asphalt road surface 1.5m deep. The eroded foot of the embankment created many "frog jaws", posing a serious risk of landslides. Previously, on August 7, a landslide of about 40m long also occurred here, damaging the embankment body and causing cracks on the road surface.

The Steering Committee for Climate Change Response - Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the commune has blockaded, installed warning lights, banned vehicles from passing through and set up a response team.
Thuong Thoi Tien embankment is a part of the project "Management and mitigation of drought and flood risks in the Greater Mekong Subregion", more than 4km long, with a total cost of hundreds of billions of VND, completed in three phases from 2017 to 2019.
