Dong Nai: Paying tribute to special forces soldier who sacrificed his life to save 3 children from drowning

Captain Nguyen Hoang Minh was a special forces soldier residing in Dong Nai. While on vacation with his family in Binh Dinh, he bravely jumped into the sea to save three children from drowning before sacrificing himself.

The Vietnam Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Association (VFRA) said that the Association's delegation recently coordinated with PC07 of Dong Nai Provincial Police and the Military Command of Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province, to visit, encourage and share the loss with the family of Captain Nguyen Hoang Minh - who heroically sacrificed while saving 3 children from drowning at the beach of Vinh Loi 1 village, My Thanh commune, Phu My district, Binh Dinh province.

At the meeting, the Association's representative presented a Certificate of Gratitude in recognition of Captain Nguyen Hoang Minh's noble gesture and spirit of selflessness for the community; and presented a support amount of 20,000,000 VND from the "For a peaceful life" Fund to his relatives, in order to contribute to sharing difficulties and encouraging the family to soon overcome this great loss.

Previously, at around 5:30 p.m. on May 28, 2025, while walking with his family at the beach in Vinh Loi 1 village, My Thanh commune, Phu My district, Binh Dinh province, discovering 3 children drowning, comrade Nguyen Hoang Minh, born in 1985, from Loc An commune, Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province - Deputy Political Commissar of Battalion 4, Water Special Forces Brigade 5 (Special Forces Corps), regardless of the danger, immediately jumped into the sea to save the people. After bringing all three children to shore safely, comrade Minh was exhausted and breathed his last on the way to a medical facility.

The sacrifice of comrade Nguyen Hoang Minh is a great loss to his family, comrades and society, but it is also a shining example of the sense of responsibility, courage and sacrifice of a soldier of the people's armed forces. Comrade Nguyen Hoang Minh's brave action is a vivid symbol of the spirit of "Sacrificing oneself for the people" - the noble quality of Uncle Ho's soldiers.
