Ia O Border Guard Station was established on June 30, 1975, with the task of managing and protecting the border on the Se San River with a length of 5.346 km. Since its establishment, the unit's officers and soldiers have overcome difficulties and effectively carried out assigned tasks.
From fighting the remnants of Pol Pot troops who crossed the border in the early stages after liberation to preventing illegal border crossings, ensuring border security, joining hands to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, and participating in consolidating the grassroots political system; preventing and combating natural disasters and epidemics; and effectively fighting all types of crimes in the border area.
One of the unit's outstanding achievements in the early years of its establishment was coordinating with the provincial functional forces to dismantle 175 underground bases of FULRO, calling on 10,450 people related to FULRO to surrender; fighting 192 battles, killing 158 people, capturing 56 people alive, calling on 180 people to surrender, seizing 569 guns of various types and disintegrating 1 division, 2 regiments, 5 battalions of FULRO; arresting 15 cases of border crossing with 78 subjects.
In addition, Ia O Border Guard Station has also done a good job of advising local Party committees and authorities in the area where the unit is located to build and consolidate the grassroots political system, resolve complicated cases related to rural security and implement socio -economic development programs. Officers and soldiers in the unit also promote propaganda activities and disseminate legal knowledge to raise legal awareness of people in Ia O commune.
With the achievements over the past 50 years, the officers and soldiers of Ia O Border Guard Station have been recognized by the Command, the Command, the Party Committees and the authorities at all levels and awarded many noble prizes. Hundreds of officers and soldiers in the unit have been awarded medals, titles of Emulation Soldier, Advanced Soldier...

On this occasion, the Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee awarded a certificate of merit to Ia O Border Guard Station for its many achievements in construction and development, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the unit's traditional day.
