Accordingly, the Vietnamese women's team is ranked in seed group number 2, along with China and South Korea.
Group 1 includes Australia (host), Japan and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea; group 3 includes the Philippines, Taiwan and Uzbekistan; group 4 includes Iran, India and Bangladesh.
The 12 teams at the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup are divided into three groups of four teams each, playing a round-robin format. The top two teams in each group and the two best third-placed teams will advance to the quarter-finals.
The tournament also serves as the knockout stage for the 2027 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The top six teams from the tournament will qualify directly for the World Cup, including the four semi-finalists and the two winners of the play-offs for the four quarter-final losers.
The 7th and 8th ranked teams will compete in the intercontinental play-off round organized by FIFA.
The Vietnamese women's team is training in Cam Pha ( Quang Ninh ) to prepare for the 2025 Southeast Asian tournament, taking place in early August.
