Businesses connect and develop together

The diffusion of technology from FDI enterprises to domestic enterprises is still limited. In the context of the strong development of the 4.0 industrial revolution and increasingly fierce competition, enterprises need to increase their capacity to be ready to connect, absorb technology and receive skill transfer; at the same time, be more proactive in developing and participating in the global supply chain.

Untangling technology transfer bottlenecks

On average, each year, Binh Duong has over 7,500 newly established enterprises entering the market. Many of them are deeply involved in regional and global production networks and value chains. In the first 5 months of 2025, the province attracted 63,420 billion VND in registered domestic investment (up 32.7% over the same period) and 795 million USD in foreign investment (2.3 times higher than the same period).

Over the past time, Binh Duong has always created favorable conditions to promote enterprises to grow in terms of scale, quality and contribution to the province's GRDP. The province also calls on foreign-invested enterprises (FDI) to proactively support domestic enterprises to improve their competitiveness, promote technology transfer and expand markets to narrow the gap in technology level, quality and competitiveness. To promote the linkage between domestic enterprises and FDI enterprises, Binh Duong is also making efforts to strengthen support policies for the private sector to promote fair competition.

Recently, Cicor Vietnam Co., Ltd. welcomed a delegation of more than 30 enterprises in the Global Sourcing Association to visit its factory in Binh Duong. The participating enterprises come from diverse fields such as electronics, chemicals, machinery and technical solutions - all aiming at the goal of connecting, cooperating and developing sustainably in the supply chain. Mr. Nguyen Trong Luat, General Director of Cicor Vietnam, shared about the strong development journey of the global Cicor Group through the strategy of expanding and acquiring factories. Digital transformation is becoming a solid foundation for Cicor to improve its competitiveness...

According to the delegation's assessment, the factory tour demonstrated Cicor's growth rate and globalization strategy, the application of technology and digital transformation in production, operating model and professional working environment. The delegation's practical exchanges will have directions to support the domestic market and the possibility of future cooperation.

Talking to us about the issue of promoting local enterprises to develop the supply chain, Mr. Jesper Hassellund Mikkelsen, General Director of Lego Manufacturing Vietnam, said that the Lego factory in Binh Duong is not only a production facility but also a strategic investment for the future of the Lego Group. Lego plans to diversify its supply chain in Vietnam and is ready to cooperate with local suppliers. Lego has a specialized team to seek business opportunities with Vietnamese enterprises. Lego plans to buy wind or solar power through the grid in Vietnam when the supply is ready. When working with local contractors on the supply of materials and services, the Lego Group will also set out a number of criteria for consideration and selection of contractors. Specifically, the first and foremost criterion is about product and service quality, the second criterion is about the safety standards of suppliers, the third criterion is about the supply time as well as the production time of the contractor, and the fourth criterion is about price.

“Another very important criterion that the Lego Group is very interested in is the criterion of sustainable development. Lego always wants and requires contractors to be able to participate in the sustainable development process of the country as well as the world . Therefore, this is also a very important criterion for Lego to be able to evaluate suppliers,” Mr. Jesper Hassellund Mikkelsen shared.

Prospects from connection

Ms. Trinh Thi Hong Chau, Vice President of the Electromechanical Association, said that in recent times, although Binh Duong has proactively opened its doors to welcome many processing and manufacturing industries, the province's supporting industry has only stopped at supplying screws, plastic molds, spare parts, etc. to foreign partners. It is worth mentioning that the supporting industry has not really exploited its full potential, because the majority of participants in this field are small and medium-sized enterprises, so they face many difficulties in terms of market, technology, human resources, capital, etc.

“The low localization rate means that the volume of imported components and spare parts to Vietnam for assembly, manufacturing, and export production is up to tens of billions of USD each year. Furthermore, supporting industry enterprises lack resources for innovation. The capacity to supply components and spare parts with high technology and complex techniques does not meet the requirements to participate deeply in the global production chain. In the coming time, we hope that Resolution 68 on private economic development will provide more capital resources and connect with the FDI sector so that we have more room for development,” Ms. Trinh Thi Hong Chau shared.

According to Mr. Luu Tri, General Director of Nghe Nang Company Limited, industrial production enterprises in general and supporting industries in particular are in great need of support from all levels and sectors, especially associations in the role of gathering enterprises from many fields, acting as a focal point to connect the needs between enterprises, creating conditions for cooperation to increase production capacity, improve product quality to open up many new customers, and promote product consumption.

In the coming time, Binh Duong will continue to promote investment in infrastructure construction of industrial parks and clusters according to the planning associated with the formation of key routes; forming a system of waterway ports, dry ports, inland ports, and multimodal logistics. In particular, focusing on building science and technology industrial parks and industrial clusters in the direction of minimizing greenhouse gas emissions.
