Create a new boost for exports

In the first 6 months of 2025, Binh Duong's export turnover reached 18.4 billion USD, an increase of 13.9% over the same period in 2024, continuing to make an important contribution to the province's economic growth results.

Efforts from many sides

In the first 6 months of 2025, despite many difficulties in the export market, Binh Duong's commodity export index still maintained a positive growth rate (up 13.9%); meanwhile, the Industrial Production Index (IIP) increased by 10.19%, nearly double the increase in the same period in 2024. This is a clear signal showing that production activities in the province have strongly recovered, especially in industries with high export value such as electronics, wood, textiles, and technological equipment.

Mr. Nguyen Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong Wood Processing Association, shared that Vietnam's wood products exports in general, and Binh Duong's in particular, to the US market are still increasing, but businesses are very cautious when this market has technical barriers to trade defense. Notably, the wood industry is facing the issue of explaining where the raw materials are grown in the world , which is a mandatory regulation for the European Union (EU). This means that each product and each shipment must prove that the wood and raw materials for production are grown in areas where deforestation does not occur, which is a regulation to combat deforestation globally. Along with that, product quality and other regulations on the social environment, the natural environment and quality regulations are increasing. Businesses are forced to meet new requirements if they want to participate in the EU and US markets.

“To produce and export sustainably, when entering the “big game”, enterprises must sooner or later make a green transition, because if they do not make a green transition, it will be very difficult for their products to enter the EU and US markets... Currently, the common concern of the Binh Duong wood industry is that if they want to make a green transition, they must make a digital transformation. Because only with digital transformation can they have complete data to measure emissions in the factory, from which they can make a green transition. Some international organizations, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) have been actively supporting some wood industry enterprises in making a green transition,” Mr. Nguyen Liem shared.

According to Mr. Pham Van Xo, Chairman of Binh Duong Export Association, timely removal of difficulties in land, infrastructure, energy and human resources has helped businesses feel secure in investing in expanding production. Binh Duong is leading the way in the new generation industrial park model, combining green production with integrated logistics, creating long-term advantages for exports. Binh Duong's export position has been raised when businesses are not only doing simple processing, Binh Duong is gradually transforming itself into a high-tech industrial center, a convergence of smart production, modern logistics and sustainable value chains.

To support local businesses to expand into the international market, Binh Duong has been focusing on investing in transport infrastructure, river ports and warehouses to reduce logistics costs for businesses. The routes connecting Binh Duong with many major seaports have been significantly improved, helping businesses to transport goods conveniently and save time. This is an important basis for export activities in the area, which is expected to continue to achieve many important results in the coming time.

New push

Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuan, General Director of Becamex IDC Corporation, said that Becamex IDC is promoting the implementation of new strategic industrial zones such as Cay Truong, Bau Bang expansion and many other synchronous infrastructure projects. This is an important preparation step for the sustainable development phase, aiming to improve productivity, quality and added value of export goods.

Binh Duong is studying the establishment of a free trade zone associated with the development of modern logistics. If successfully implemented, this will be a big boost, helping to reduce supply chain costs and increase the competitiveness of the province's export goods. Mr. Niels B. Christiansen, CEO of the LEGO Group (Denmark), said that the LEGO Group will inaugurate a distribution center in Dong Nai province later this year. This project is part of the strategy to improve the capacity of a flexible and efficient supply chain. The center has now begun trial operations with the first shipments from the Lego Vietnam Factory (Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park III).

“The Lego Vietnam factory is expected to be powered by 100% renewable energy by early 2026. In addition to the installation of 12,400 rooftop solar panels, the LEGO Group also announced an important partnership with the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park to build an energy hub on the site adjacent to the factory. The hub will be integrated with the first large-scale battery energy storage solution deployed in Vietnam and is expected to be operational by the end of 2025. The remaining renewable energy demand will be met through power purchase agreements (PPAs). Lego is working on ways to produce bricks from more environmentally friendly materials,” said Niels B. Christiansen.

Enterprises hope that all levels and sectors will promptly coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to maintain regular trade promotion conferences with the Vietnamese Trade Office system abroad. Functional agencies and localities coordinate with the Vietnamese Trade Office system to regularly update information on the foreign market situation; regulations, standards, and conditions of foreign markets that may affect the import and export activities of domestic enterprises, and make recommendations to enterprises, industry associations, and import-export enterprises in the province...
