Delegation attending the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians visits Ha Long Bay

On September 17, in Quang Ninh province, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly led the delegation attending the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians to visit Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh.

Welcoming all delegates and young parliamentarians to Quang Ninh province and visiting Ha Long Bay, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong stated that the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians was a great success with many important contents, in which the declaration of this Conference showed "the role of culture as a driving force for sustainable development" and the need to "promote respect for cultural diversity in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution". Therefore, the visit to Ha Long Bay by the delegation attending the Conference will be an opportunity for young parliamentarians to learn about the world natural heritage of Ha Long Bay, the unique culture of the people of Quang Ninh as well as Vietnam. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for young Vietnamese National Assembly delegates to exchange and share experiences with young parliamentarians of other countries, thereby promoting mutual understanding and strengthening cooperation to serve parliamentary activities in the coming time.

Welcoming the delegation to Quang Ninh, Deputy Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Dang Xuan Phuong happily informed that at 5:40 p.m. on September 16, 2023 local time, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee officially recognized Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba Archipelago as World Natural Heritage. Ha Long Bay was honored twice in 1994 and 2004. But this year, this Natural Heritage has been expanded, extending to Cat Ba Archipelago.

The Deputy Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee also stated that the Vietnamese National Assembly hosting the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference also aims to implement the foreign policy of "independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification; proactive and active international integration comprehensively, deeply and effectively"; at the same time, affirming Vietnam's active and responsible participation in the IPU - the world's largest inter-parliamentary organization, showing Vietnam's concern for the country's future generations and the current global issues of young people.

Emphasizing that Quang Ninh province is very honored and proud to be chosen as a destination within the framework of the Conference program, the Deputy Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee said that over the years, under the leadership of the Party and State, the province has always seriously and consistently grasped the awareness and actions of cadres, party members and people to constantly strive to contribute to preserving, protecting and fostering the increasingly good development of solidarity, friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and international friends.

In addition, Quang Ninh has been and is continuing to develop on the basis of good values ​​passed down from previous generations, associated with organizing and creating new development spaces; ensuring close and harmonious connection between economic development, cultural and social development and environmental protection. These are also the basic goals of sustainable development.

The IPU President emphasized that this is a very meaningful activity for the delegates attending the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians to visit and learn about the culture, tourism, country and people of Vietnam. Thereby, he hopes to return to Vietnam in the near future.

Earlier, early in the morning of the same day, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong inspected the work of ensuring security, safety, and food hygiene and safety in the areas where the delegation attended. The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized that this is a very important activity for introducing the image, culture, and natural heritage of Ha Long Bay to young parliamentarians around the world; he requested that functional agencies and logistics departments ensure absolute safety and security for this activity./.
